crena left me in response to a comment I left her in her journal. I am so touched by this on so many levels, and wanted to save it for posterity. She and her children totally rock!

I explained to the kids about how gay marriage isn't allowed in our state (and many others) right now. They were shocked- literally shocked. I was very pleased at this reaction- it shows that they have a basic understanding that everyone deserves the same rights. Then they were worried because how will Jude get married? I explained that you would probably go to a state where it is legal, or go to Canada. But you shouldn't have to, dammit.

I had a good talk with Tyler the other day because we caught her making fun of another girl for being "gay". It made me so mad. I asked her if she knew what the word meant, and she was able to tell me. But when I explained to her that using the word in the way that she did was improper we got into this really complex conversation that was over my head. I finally just said, "People that we know who are gay would be hurt to know that you used this word to make fun of someone." "Like Jude?" she asked. That got the message across. She was very worried for your feelings.

They are the cutest kids ever. I want kids just like that!
