Email from SPOON

I got an email from SPOON! And SPOON lives in an apartment building with Gay Hockey Players. And SPOON's downstairs neighbors are moving out around June 1st. And SPOON's landlord doesn't have anyone lined up. And SPOON lives in my old neighborhood. With a grill and a hot tub out back.

And to think I almost deleted the email as spam because I didn't know SPOON's real name. Crap on a cracker, but that was a great email!

Ha! I haven't talked to SPOON in about a billion years. This could end up being a very cool thing.

I'm still worrying about finding someone who can help my intern find a roommate & apartment in Boston for August when she starts grad school.

A couple of years ago, I was going to move to Boston and was looking for a roommate. I registered with some of those websites and found some strangers, and all of them were actually very nice.

So maybe if you can't find someone you know, they could find a nice stranger?

The only site I knew about and recommended for her so far to use for searching is Craigslist, I don't know of any other good ones...since I haven't searched for a roommate, like, evah. :)

I'm also thinking of suggesting she use Friendster, maybe, for some connections? I think she's already signed up.

I posted asking about it in my own journal, hoping some of the Boston people might have some suggestions or leads, but no one replied.

She frickin' got into HAHVAHD. She's a smart cookie, I'm trying to be as helpful as possible to get her there.

Don't forget, J & I picked up and moved from Florida to MA. It was stressful, but we got through it fine, and we didn't even have jobs when we got here. If we could do it, you & Jen can make a big move wherever the hell you want. We didn't plan anywhere near as much as you're doing. :)

I can't help it, I'm obsessive about planning. I don't really know where I get it from, but I'm probably driving Jen crazy by now with all of my planning and fretting.

I'm trying to remember where I looked online for roommates. If I remember, I'll let you know. The Intern might also want to check with Harvard itself, see if they have any sort of roommate referral service or anything. I know UMASS Boston and BU had them.

Unfortunately, most of the Boston peeps we know these days are all coupled up. And we're getting OLD, so maybe we don't know a lot of people looking for roommates? I'm not sure. I know I don't know of any singles in the Boston area looking for a roomie. Even lorac's little brother is living in sin.

Nope, chick. She's looking to move in August. I'm just passing the word to everyone to keep their ears open. I'm sure there are nice strangers out there, but it's easier when you can get a "friend of a friend" type recommendation.
