Rainy days and transfer cases always get me down

When Coworker Sarah left the agency, I was supposed to only inherit those cases of hers that were supposed to close between now and the time I left the agency, and this one case I took because I know the family pretty well. Somehow, between then and now, I have inherited something like 3-4 more cases. This is fine, I don't mind the cases or whatever but... now these people are going to get new caseworkers again in 2 months? How frustrating.

Taking on other people's cases is tiring because you just don't have all the info. Even the most note-conscious clinician has some information in his/her head that never makes it to documentation. And even if it /is/ all documented, there are all of these questions: When to introduce yourself to parents? How to get around the awkwardness? Where is that damned report and why isn't it in the case file? Stuff like that. Bleh.

So today I will call a Dad that as far as I know has been pretty uninvolved. I will call and introduce myself, and in two months, someone else will call. No wonder families hate the system. I hate the system. I much prefer having cases I get from opening, because I know everything that's gone on. Hello, Control Freak!

1. Well, I don't really identify as a lesbian, but I let people assume that I do. So I'll change your question to, "How did you first know that you liked girls in that special way?" and answer this: I admitted it to myself when I was 17 and was getting ready to go to college. I had a couple of crushes on girls before then, and I knew they were crushes, but I didn't really give them any serious thought in terms of, you know, life.

2. I have absolutely had sexual feelings for men - I can think of 3 in my limited sexual history. I have sexual feelings for a lot of people. Unfortunately, my sexual feelings for men don't really go beyond attraction to them and a willingness to let them go down on me. I really don't particularly want to see or touch male genitalia. (And by "willingness," I mean, "Not my first choice, but I'd take it in a pinch.") That doesn't really work out too well for the men, so it's probably better that I don't date them. ;)

3. Not only possible, I think it's probable that most people are in some way bisexual. I think it's very unlikely that the majority of the population (myself included) are strictly hetero- or homosexual. It's just not realistic. There's a lot of grey area there. That said, I think that even those people in the grey tend to have one gender that they /prefer/ or are most comfortable with, and will go with that.

1. There is nothing under my bed. Sometimes our little cat Ralph will sleep under there, but she's not there now.

Oh, come on! It's simple. They're traveling (45+35)/sqrt(2) towards each other, which makes it about 56.57 mph. So, they'll get to the same longitude in 1.77 hours, or about 1 hour 46 minutes. And change. Because they're also traveling 56.57 mph away from each other, from the same line of latitude, they will be exactly 100 miles away from each other, north/south, when they cross that line.

Okay, the curvature of the Earth part was a bit tough.

You know, I made a diagram for the problem and everything, complete with angles and the 100 feet (between them at the outset and between them at the end). But then I remembered that I had all that social work stuff to go over and said, "BAH! Why am I doing this word problem, and why do I care that x^2 = 2a^2 and y^2 = 2b^2 and a + b = 100!!"

1. I like the platform the Greens represent. I mean, they're progressive and environmental, and I like that. However, after having several conversations with my smurfbrother (the political scientist and statistician), I really and truly do believe from the bottom of my heart that a third party will never make it.

2. My ideal non-Gay job would involve Program Management for some other non-profit organization - something vaguely political, like an environmental cause or a children's advocacy organization. I'd like to be a professional schmoozer, I think.

3. That's a good question. My grandfather is currently 86 and seems to have a lot of good life left in him. So I'll say 101, just to pick something. Unless, of course, I start to lose my faculties - then I think I'd like to go sooner.

1. Yes. It annoys me when anyone shows up randomly without calling. I am one of those people who gets an idea to do something and gets irritated when that's disrupted - like if I'm reading email and Jen comes and kisses me, I get annoyed sometimes even.

2. I'm not sure I really understand the question. I think the "how" of my life changes in the past two years have come about through the increases in commitment between Jen and me. But I'm not sure I'm reading your question correctly.

3. I don't know. Probably. I was a drunk-kissing whore, you know. The only people I /didn't/ kiss were the people I was afraid would want more from me. As long as you didn't give me a "I want to date you" vibe, I would have kissed you.
