Tonight I met
being_homeless. We were introduced when she came to do a talk at OSU. Sometime later in the weekend we're going to go out (I think), possibly even with
vorpalbla to show her the shelters we used to work at. I feel like I can place another push-pin in my LJ Road Map. She's a major Rock Star!
She's just adorable, you know, with that sort of humble hunched over look that makes you want to buy Girl Scout Cookies from her at twice the cost. Hopefully I will get to take some photos of her over the weekend.

Date: 2004-04-16 04:35 am (UTC)we should totally hang out! I can only tolerate so much testostrone before I need to be with girls!!!!!!!!! *grin*
It's a small, small whirled
Date: 2004-04-16 11:58 am (UTC)Crystal, I have to say I've been following your journal for quite a while....and I've known these students for several months....and I've NEVER heard them SO TALKATIVE and SO EXCITED - not even about videogames or girls. They couldn't WAIT to talk to me lastnight about your speech (and they usually go out of their way NOT to talk to me.)
I do have to ask - did you talk at all about homelessness and GLBT youth?? One of my students kept saying, "Jenn, you TOTALLY would have LOVED her. I mean....she's....totally....just...you would have LOVED her." I ask because he's also one of my students who comes down and tells me every time he meets someone who is gay or a lesbian. (He thinks maybe I know them too - naturally, since all GLBT are on that one email listserve!)
Yahoo! You made such a huge difference!

Date: 2004-04-16 12:24 pm (UTC)If you need an escape from the boys and want to be around some estrogen, steal my phone number from Jeff (he's little, you can take him!) and call anytime. I have to go to a girly bridal shower on Saturday afternoon, but am otherwise very flexible.
My girl and I aren't terribly girly, but we'll do! =P
p.s. Hopefully I'll be seeing you soon.

I do not like girly-girls anyway. *blah*
eeeeeeeew bridal showers. I have to go to one in 2 weeks. and I have to go- because I'm the bridesmaid. which means in a month I have to get dressed up all frilly and stuff.... eeeeeeeeeewwwww!
I hate dresses. :P
we have to hang out, we should go to the shelter and then we can take lots of pictures. I brought my digital camera too... :)

Date: 2004-04-16 09:54 pm (UTC)I had broached the idea with Jeff last night about the possibility of taking you out to brunch at a completely yummy place tomorrow (Saturday). Are you a breakfast person and are you interested? It's supposed to be GORGEOUS out!
