One year down, one to go.
May. 13th, 2004 12:14 amTonight I skimmed/read all of the notes from my first year in the MSW program. Three quarters worth of notes. That's what? 10 classes? I have no idea. All I know is that it was phenomenally boring, and I am not really sure it's helped any. I still know the stuff I knew before, and the stuff I've forgotten didn't make much sense in note form. Aah well. I'll read the second year tomorrow. And then I can say I did. And then I can take the test.
Tonight I had a phone interview/screening with a political action type job. The woman who called me and I got very chatty, which can either be very good or very bad. (I'm thinking back to the time at a job interview where my interviewer told me I would make a very good comedian, which basically meant she thought I would make a poor social worker.) The job sounds both exciting and scary at the same time - it's for a grassroots nonprofit that has spent over 20 years trying to mess with corrupt transnational corporations (like Philip Morris). I think my father would totally kill me.
But really, I could organize global boycotts! How cool would that be?

Date: 2004-05-13 12:51 pm (UTC)I can get processed cheese from somewhere else. If Phillip Morris wanted people to stop smoking, like they claim in their tobacco-settlement mandated TV commercials, they'd stop making cigarettes.
Also, Philip Morris doesn't own Kraft. Altria (formerly known as Philip Morris) owns both Kraft foods and Philip Morris cigarettes. And a bunch of other brands. If you're going to boycott, know your enemy. :)
And your dad would get over it.

And I agree with you re: cigarettes. I know that people have a right to smoke them if they want to, I just can't understand why people want to. Ick.

Date: 2004-05-13 12:43 pm (UTC)The world would be a better place if more people boycotted PANTS. Just think of the possibilities. We might even get to see the president's face.
On the other hand, we can't boycott
pantsie. If it were up to me, of course, I'd put her in charge of our pantsless world. Yoga and catered lunches for everyone!
