I have worked as an ongoing worker for Children's Services since September of last year. I have had the high privilege and the distinct honor of never having to remove a child on my caseload in my tenure. I have never been given custody of a child at court. I have never had to do a placement. This is, quite simply, an amazing thing. (Well, I had to switch someone's placement once, but that hardly counts.)

This is my last week of work at Children's Services. Tomorrow is my last Monday at Children's Services. And I have to go to court. And I am going to get custody of a 17-year-old JD. And I will have to do a placement. And I came down with a likely-stress-induced cold today and feel like ass, did I mention that?

*snaps fingers* Damn. I had a nearly impeccable record.

And rain will make the flowers ... (*sputter* *die*)

It's time for me to pay for my LJ account just so I can have a silly Les Misérables icon.

It rained on my wedding day. We got over it. Don't think of it as a blemish on your record, think of it as additional experience that you can take with you to a new job. Not only are you good at staying out of court, but when it's absolutely necessary (because some people need more drastic kicks in their pants to be helped), you can handle that, too.

It rained on MY wedding day, too! =P

Well, I didn't get him today. Court got continued until Wednesday. I could get him then, but might not. Fun fun!

Could it be a kilt? With my tarter? (Or tartan. But if my tarter's on my kilt, then I won't have to go to the dentist anytime soon.)

WAH-KA WAH-KA WAH-KA!!!

Funny, you said "tartar" and all I could think of was tartar sauce.

It must be the boogers.

Do you remember back in college when "Ironic" first came out and we hated it, but Ronnie liked it and he wouldn't change the station off VH1 when the video came on? We tackled him trying to get the remote away from him and the two of us couldn't wrestle it away from the little twerp. How embarrassing.

You know, the one thing I can't forget about Ronnie is how we met him. And that's the one thing I probably want to forget the most. ;)

p.s. You'll have to come see our faboo new pad when we move, and when I get some $$ and a job I'll come see yooooooo.

Yeah, Ronnie really didn't make the best first impresstion. I guess that means you don't remember the "Ironic" incident, then? And yes! Once you are settled and we all have moolah I'd love to come see the new digs so I can fume in jealous rage in person.

No, to be honest, I don't remember wrestling him for the remote. Although I have no problem picturing this. And that "Ironic" song still annoys the crap out of me.

Instead of jealous rage, you should just move! :)

Whatever. You know that most of those kids need to be removed (remember my family of 5, one of whom is still AWOL, that is CRAZY?) and that these kids will not be at risk-at least for the time they are in care!

Anyways, big bad boy is screwed. Either way. By you or by his mom. Poor kid-I thought he may make it out of the system.

Coworker Sarah

ps-I haven't removed any either.

Yeah, but those kids you're talking about are just placed with their older sister - not really taken out of the situation much.

(Although there are less roaches.) :)
