Post of Much Boringness
Jun. 17th, 2004 05:13 pmThis morning I got up early for a job interview in Waltham, and it was pretty much a waste of time. It really seemed like the woman who interviewed me was trying to convince me to hate the job. She was successful. Not only is it close enough to my last job to leave a sour taste in my mouth, but it involves driving all over the state at a lower freaking mileage rate than my last job (and my last job's mileage rate was already well below IRS level). Sheesh! I know I desperately need a job but I would seriously rather be an administrative assistant again than go into /that/ kind of social work. (After all, being an AA is kind of fun - and probably pays better.)
So yeah, I'm still crossing my fingers for the On the Rise job and hoping the Executive Director calls me in for an interview. I haven't heard anything from last week's job interview in Roslindale but I noticed that the job want ad ran again today, so umm... yeah. Last Friday's phone interview was a bust. I'd like to hear back about Monday's interview, too. I have another interview next Monday with AmeriCorps as an Admissions Counselor. Hopefully something will pan out soon!
A week from today is the three-generations Family Red Sox game and I am totally excited! My father and grandfather will be arriving at around 11am so we can walk around and eat lunch, then watch the game, and then probably eat dinner somewhere. (My grandfather has Type 2 Diabetes controlled by diet so he is a scheduled eater.) Whee! I'm also trying to convince my mother that she wants to take a day off next week and come visit us. Maybe we will actually have some art on the walls by then.
Yesterday we took an impromptu trip to Wollaston Beach and then called
gala for a chinese food recommendation. She recommended Great Chow in Quincy and we invited her and
hoo along for the ride! They ended up paying (which was SO not why we invited them) so we totally owe them a lot. They are great fun and we spent a lot of time at the restaurant chatting, but we had to leave to wait for
calledmara's arrival!
Daina came with her friend Andrea and they spent the night. They are officially our first house guests! Ralph is a traitor and slept with them instead of me. Curses! We are all old, tired farts who went to bed early. I called
exoteris last night before bed but he didn't answer the phone. Double curses! Foiled again!
Today, Jen and I splurged and went to see The Stepford Wives. I liked it, especially the fact that the 12:40 showing was full of old ladies. Now I want to read the book. I'm a big Ira Levin fan, so I'm surprised I haven't already.

Massachusetts: any sexual preference is fine, as long as you don't root for another baseball team.
