So take off all your clothes!
Jul. 21st, 2004 09:12 pmWow - my first Hump Day in a long time! *hump hump*
My work situation is quite interesting. About 90% (or more) of my coworkers are women, most in their 20s. They also dress like fashion models. I am growing quite tired of capri pants and Coach purses. I am now known as "the girl with the short hair," and I have not found someone to be crazy with yet. I miss Coworker Sarah! *weep* I was kept busy today accompanying people on intakes and home visits. It was actually quite informative. I know that I can definitely do this job with a little bit of extra knowledge, but I still really really want the Dream Job.
(I work for an organization that does Early Intervention. EI is a program for children under 3 who qualify in one of three ways: diagnosed with a medical condition known to cause developmental delays, assessment of significant delay in at least one area of functioning, or possession of 4 or more risk factors that place children at risk for delays. My agency is interdisciplinary and has developmental specialists, social workers, speech therapists, occupational therapists, and physical therapists who work together to provide EI services. My job is both as a clinician and a service coordinator, aka case manager. EI services, by MA law, must be provided in the child's natural environment, i.e. homes or child care settings.)
Everything at my job is hand-written, and for the first time ever, I do not have a computer at work. Personally, I find this to be a travesty. It is also a travesty that I do not fit in with any of the girls at work. WHY ARE THEY ALL SO NORMAL?!?! They are all really nice people and I like them, but I just don't click with any of them. Argh! I need someone on the inside to talk to me and give me dirt on everyone else. ;)
In other news, it has been hot as balls here for several days, and when I got in from work this evening, it was a balmy 87 degrees in our third floor apartment. We broke down and put the AC on a couple of hours ago. We set it at 77 degrees and it hasn't reached that temperature and shut off yet. Yowch.
