The temperature has finally dropped in the apartment - from 87 to 85. I'm starting to worry that the cats are going to get overheated. We have central air but I'm afraid of what the electric bill will be if we start running the central air all over this place. Oh, and we can't close the living room windows because the humidity has them stuck open.

I miss living in Ohio, because in Ohio we were making enough money to pay the electric bill with the central air on. We kept the temp up a little high, and so the third floor of our place was warm, but we used a fan and could sleep under the sheets. Now I want to pull off my skin to make myself cooler. This is sticky and disgusting.

In Ohio, our electric bill with the central air on full time was $75/mo. Last month, our electric bill was over $40 with no central air. It would have been like $28 in Columbus. What the heck is the difference? I'm tempted to just say, "Screw it!" and run the AC like mad, spending the money I've saved for the down payment on a house in the interests of keeping cool. This is the third or fourth day that the temp in the apartment has been above 85. It's enough to make me want to go to work.

Speaking of, I'll be working tomorrow from 9am until 8pm. Hopefully this will mean I can flex some time off of Friday afternoon, especially if Jen wants to go to New Jersey for the weekend. Although I don't know what's up with that now seeing as she GOT THAT JOB AT LEVENGER (home of snooty classists!) and will now be bringing in some Mo-NAY!

$BLING$BLING$

EDIT: Money be damned. We have to turn the effing AC on before we fry. Aaah.

Oh, sure. Pick the weekend when I might be going to MA for you to maybe go to NJ.

Of course, I don't know where in NJ you'd be going, so it's probably still 2 or 3 hours away and we wouldn't have time to go see each other, but I still think in New England terms where the next state is within shouting distance.

Well, we'll definitely be in NJ this weekend. (Dear LiveJournal, please do not come rob my house. Thank you.) Since Jen just accepted a job in retail, this is probably the last weekend she'll see in a looooooooooong time. And her parents are moving to Florida at the end of the month, so she really wants to spend time with them.

They're in Bergen County, just up there next to New York. Some famous person (P. Diddy? I forget) just bought a house there for over a million dollars. But it wasn't her parents' house. :)

Well Ohio misses you--at least some of the people do! :)
And I don't know how you do it--my AC has been on ALL summer and yes I'm PAYING for it--literally, but cannot live without it. I wonder how i managed to grow up, my entire life in Ohio with AC. I did and survived, must be cause I'm old I can't tolerate it.

I loved your line "Now I want to pull off my skin to make myself cooler. This is sticky and disgusting." that really cracked me up!! :)

We've actually been really fortunate this summer - it hasn't been very hot at all. Or it will be hot for a couple of days, and then cool down.

There were whole weeks when the temperature would dip into the high 60s at night, and that would really cool off the house! So that is how we survived.

We ended up running the AC all night last night and it definitely made things more comfortable. And we would probably be more likely to continue to do so if we were making enough money. We're just not... not yet anyway. :)

We miss you!

At least you only have to run the AC for like 2 months in Massachusetts. It will be chilly by Labor day.
