So I have an interview tomorrow morning at 8:00 AM for that $50K research-y job. I think they want to hire right away because he was pretty much all, "Can you come in tomorrow?" on the phone and offered to take me anytime after 7:00 AM. Craziness. I hope they're not interviewing too many people, since I'm already making plans about that huge paycheck. Heh.
I saw on the posting that they want this new person to start on September 10th. My current job would have a total conniption about this, especially since I /just/ (as in, today) took over someone's biweekly play group. Aah well, it'd be an adjustment for all of us, right?
I just can't help but dream about all the ways this job would help us, even if I don't really like it. It's on public transportation, so Jen would have her car back to look for a better job. (Beacon Hill, even. How posh.) It pays way more than I make now, so Jen could stay in retail if she wanted to. We would be able to put money away. And the hours would be a cool 40, no over. It's funny - when I was on the phone with the guy today he was like, "I see that you called me back at 6:30PM. I don't know what you're doing for work right now that you're out that late. But we just don't do that." Awesome.
I so totally don't want to interview at 8:00 AM, but I didn't want to risk missing my 10:30 appointment (that will probably no-show anyway). I'm already planning to stay late at work tomorrow night /as long as it takes/ to get all of the paperwork and extra stuff off my desk. I'm hoping to get it all done by 7:00PM, but I am committed to Operation: Stay Til It's Done.
Wish me luck, on all fronts!

Date: 2004-09-01 01:52 pm (UTC)and DON'T YOU DARE worry about the old job having a conniption if this is where you want to go, ok? you have to put yourself first for once. they have to understand that you were interviewing when you got this job and a better offer can't be turned down. that is life. and you deserve the best.
plus, i'm all about operation baby so that kara has a playmate with you and jen's little one! :)
