I have a lot of home visits today, so the day should go by pretty quickly. Although it's raining, so I hope that won't make the day too sleepy or draggy, or make parking too crappy. After work, we're headed up to Fenway to see a free screening of Nine Innings From Ground Zero which is about the 2001 World Series. I have no expectations either way, so it should just be a good time.

I have no problem /getting/ to AMC Fenway but I always seem to get lost on the way home. In the dark, the Fens are a mystery to me. Every college building looks the same. The road winds. I end up on some ridiculous street nowhere near where I want to be. Must remedy.

This morning I have songs in my head from the Columbus Women's Chorus. I think of Daina and Brandie. I think of silly scarves and hippie women. I miss my girl friends, my coffee shop, my Short North hangouts.

I used to be a Big City Kid, but I think as I get older I'm more of a Small City Woman. I want some of the conveniences and glam of the City but without the isolation and expense. I want the closeness of brick streets and quaint coffee shops in an area I can afford such luxuries. Don't worry, though: I still loathe the suburbs.

I love your new icon! It's so fun! But, if I look at it too long, it makes me dizzy, and makes me think that my eyes are doing wacky things. I'm convinced that you are secretly trying to hypnotize me with it.

the fens confuse the hell out of me too. the easiest way for me is to go up brookline ave and take a left onto longwood. then take a left on huntington, right on ruggles, left on tremont, and then a right onto melnea cass which eventually wacks straight into mass ave.
you know that doesn't sound as simple when i type it.. but it's like 15 minutes to savin hill from the fenway movie theatre if you get it right. :)

You are SO right - that is the quickest way to get there from YOU. (Aah, the things I know since it is my job to drive around Dorchester and Roxbury all day.) It's a pretty straight shot for you to go Columbia - Mass - Melnea Cass - Tremont - Ruggles (which becomes Louis Prang which becomes Fenway, aah I love Boston) - Brookline. For me, since I'm a bit down the way from you, the quickie way to the 'bury is Washington - Columbia - Blue Hill - Seaver (which becomes Columbus which becomes Tremont) - Ruggles. WHEE!

But I just wanted to state for the record that we CORRECTLY navigated the Fens tonight, and now are SET FOR LIFE on how to get home. We turn right in front of the shopping center so we can U-Turn onto Fenway, and then WHAM - Louis Prang.

Yes!

Oh yeah, it's definitely worse when there's a game.
