I suppose I should make something for dinner. I was going to have my leftovers from my dinner with nails, but Jen ate them this morning... so I need a plan b. Since I'm not much of a chef, perhaps plan b will involve macaroni and cheese. Or spaghetti. Normally I would just make a sandwich but I am not feeling very sandwichy. (How does one feel sandwichy, really?)

One of my clients today made me laugh so hard in inappropriate ways, which made me miss Coworker Sarah, for she is the queen of inappropriate. (Tickle THIS Elmo.) I was playing with this little boy and he threw all of my crayons, and his mom said, "I'm gonna whack you just as soon as Jude leaves." I suppose this is only funny because she's not really going to whack him, but it cracked me up anyway. (Besides, if she really was going to knock her kid around, she wouldn't go bragging about it.) I really like this family, although they think I'm some nutty, intellectual White girl or whatever. Although Mom told me today that she doesn't have a car seat and she just puts the kid in the car and I about had a heart attack. I promptly told her to call her community health center and tell them she needs a car seat. They should be able to get her one on the cheap. GAH! USE CAR SEATS, PEOPLE!!

I had a really sweet note on my computer when I got home from work. My Jennifer is the best ever and it really bothers me that we've had such a rocky time since we arrived here. I know that I've been incredibly moody which is not helping in the slightest. I just feel so bad. Yesterday I was so sad because I've always had this plan of throwing her a huge party for her 30th birthday next month, and I just don't know how I'll work that out here. I've been planning this for nearly a year, so in my mind it always involved having a big crazy party with the Columbus crew, lots of cake, and lots of silly pictures in bathtubs. Aah well. I'm sure I'll think of something, because you only turn 30 once! :)

We actually looked at airline tickets to Columbus for our birthday, but the cheapest I could find was like $350 for both of us for the weekend (and I forget what shady airline that was on) and we just can't really pull it off. Aah well. I suppose we should be responsible and save the money and all of that.

I did not drink enough liquids today. That is bad. My mouth is parched and I've already had a million glasses of water. I have that tacky taste/feeling in my mouth. I just hope I'm not getting sick. Aah well. Time to put some food together in a bowl so I can watch Jeopardy! I wish Ken Jennings would LOSE ALREADY. I can't stand his smug little mug!

You know if I moved back to Columbus you would immediately stop making plans with me.

It's like a rule or something. ;)

I actually was thinking along those lines when I wrote about "the rule." Which I suppose proves that you have successfully brainwashed me. ;)

Yes, we have the same birthday, but not the same year. Jen is a year older than I.

that's wacky.
btw, why don't you buy a nalgene bottle and clip it onto your bag like everybody else on the planet? then you'll always be hydrated!!

From: [identity profile] judecorp.livejournal.com
I have several Nalgene bottles, and they are almost always full of water - they're just never where I want them to be! Like, if I'm thirsty at a client's, it usually means I accidentally left the bottle on my desk at work. Or if I'm thirsty at my desk, it's because the bottle has rolled somewhere in my car.

It's a conspiracy!!

Have you tried looking for plane tickets on hotwire.com? They offer low prices but don't tell you the name of the airline or times of the flight until after you buy the tickets.

Date: 2004-09-21 12:20 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] judecorp.livejournal.com
Yeah, I used to use Hotwire a lot when I was a student because my flight times were so flexible. However, since we don't have vacation time or anything right now, our flight times would have to be pretty specific... we'd hate to arrive in Columbus at 10pm on a Saturday night and have a return flight Sunday morning at 7am!

have you looked into flyi (i believe their site is www.flyi.com or just google independence air)?? i flew them from dc to columbus and i was pleased (not with the dennis miller voice-over of the safety briefing, but with the rest) and everyone i now who's flown with them has been pleased...and, they're SUPER cheap. almost as cheap as southwest (did you try them?). you can't get their fares through travel sites, so they wouldn't pop up during a "normal" search, so check out the websites. goodluck!

Date: 2004-09-21 03:36 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] ullrsawah.livejournal.com
i just checked flyi and it looks like $89 each way...not that much of a difference, i guess if i read your "$350 for the both of us" correctly.

BUT, i just remembered they're doing a "companion fares" sale for "members"(standard joining thing for reservations and discounts) that is basically a 2-for-1 deal on tickets. you should totally look into it. (and i was right about the www.flyi.com website)

Date: 2004-09-21 12:21 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] judecorp.livejournal.com
I went to their website and couldn't find anything about a "companion fare." Do you know where you saw it? The only "member" bonus I saw online was $25 off your first online reservation.

A companion fare would certainly help!

Date: 2004-09-22 02:09 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] ullrsawah.livejournal.com
you have to sign into their "iclub" tihng and then the companion fare should show up...

...i just checked, it does. so, join iclub and login and there should be a 2-for-1 graphic on the left-hand side of the screen

From: [identity profile] judecorp.livejournal.com
I joined iClub, and I still didn't see any companion fare stuff, just the $25 off.

Maybe it hates me.

bad iclub! bad! bad!

i don't know...maybe the offer is only for people who already joined?

here's the link...maybe if you sign into iclub and then paste the link it'll work? i'll look for the e.mail they sent me as well... https://www.flyi.com/skylights/cgi-bin/skylights.cgi?mode=TWO_FOR_ONE

Actually, after I sent you the last comment I found it. Unfortunately, the flights are so pricey this time of year that even the two-for-one flights are too much. The "companion fare" rate for both of us to go to Columbus was $350. And that's a lot of bling.

I use SideStep to compare airfares, and they have southwest, independence, airtran, jetblue, and all of those.

Believe it or not, the cheapest right now for that weekend is American Airlines. It's just still too expensive. :)

I'm not sure how many J! games with Jennings have aired, but I do know which one he loses on. (Inside info from Sony. Shh.) If you want to know, tell me how many he's won so far and I'll tell you how far he has to go.

Date: 2004-09-21 12:22 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] judecorp.livejournal.com
I don't get to watch every day, so I honestly don't know how many he's won, but I know he's won over 1.5 million dollars and I CAN'T STAND HIM.

Thankfully, Tournament of Champions started yesterday so I didn't have to see his smug mug last night. :)

p.s. Do you work for Sony?
