Today I ate the most disgusting thing I have ever eaten in my entire life, and that is not an exaggeration. prunesnprismsShani made me taste the durian ice cream at the Boston Ice Cream Factory and I thought I was going to vomit. It tasted like the most rotten onions ever (and we know how I feel about onions). I was eating delicious pumpkin ice cream and I kept licking my ice cream and rubbing it all over my palate trying to kill the taste, but it took a while. It was wretched. I don't know how it is "the king of fruit" in Malaysia. Yuck.

I also tried Guinness-flavored ice cream, and while I thought my little taste was yummy, it's not something I could eat a whole scoop of. It was kind of surreal. I was all, "This ice cream tastes like BEER." Bizarre. It was all creamy and then the aftertaste was all stout. Totally weird.

I need to stay far, far away from the Ice Cream Factory if I know what's good for me. Although they have a ton of delicious-sounding flavors and they make ice cream cakes out of any flavor you want. YUM!

elias got guiness ice cream at that little ice cream place next to Lamberts and i couldn't convince myself to try any. the concept of beer ice cream was too much for me to handle.

Yeah, that's the Ice Cream Factory. They have some AMAZING stuff there. YUM!

You should have tried a lick. One lick. The aftertaste alone would have blown your mind. BEER ICE CREAM!

Durian; that stuff is crazy smelly. I picked one up last year from Kam Man in Quincy, having heard about its fantastic taste from some durian connoisseur's website.
My roomates nearly barfed, and that was the first and last time I ate durian...
the taste wasn't that bad, but the reek it left on the journey between the fruit and my mouth made it hard to get it there.
That being said, way to try it; between the odor and the fleshy part's appearance (King-Kong sperms) it turned off everyone I knew.

You know, I looked up durian online when I got home (Shani only knew it was "this fruit in Asia that smells like decomposing bodies") and I admit that if I had actually /seen/ a durian, I would have been even more reluctant. Although Shani's, "This is nasty - you should try it" should really have tipped me off. ;)

I can't imagine bringing one of those vile little beasties into my home. YUCK!

Ever Try Jack Daniels Ice Cream?

I haven't, but I watched an episode of (well, we think it was this show anyway) "Best of" on the Food Network. There is an ice cream shop somewhere in Tennessee that makes any flavor you can think of, and will add it into their rotation if you ask for it.

Their most popular flavor is Jack Daniels ice cream. No chocolate. No other flavor to help with the whiskey flavor (not even coke). Just Jack Daniels.

I think I feel about the Guiness flavor the same as I did about the Jack Daniels flavor - if I want a stout or if I want a glass of whiskey, I'll order it from a bar, thanks.

Amen! I don't think I would like Jack Daniels ice cream AT ALL, though I think it would be interesting to have a scoop of Jack ice cream and a scoop of Coke ice cream, let them melt a little bit, and see what happens. :)

That's really funny.

I was over at Lambert's yesterday after a trip to National Wholesale Liquors..I mean, Liquidators. I was parked right in front of the Ice Cream Factory, debating going in, while talking on the phone with Dr. L.

It is an evil, evil place full of ice cream. Then again, NWL is an evil place full of junk that you feel you have to buy because it's liquidated. I was there on Friday buying random crap.

:)

Awww. I hope it eventually did fade away. It WAS vile. I can't see how people ever would have considered it a viable food.

Sorry, I haven't been reading that long. Do you like onions? Or feel that they are evil incarnate?

Hey there again :)

Saw your post in [livejournal.com profile] b0st0n about the book club. I was in one over the past winter that disbanded in the hectic summertime, and might be regrouping soon. If you're interested, I'll let you know if anything comes of it.

We've read The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency, The Queen's Fool, The Da Vinci Code. We were going to read The Hollow Chocolate Bunny Rabbits of the Apocalypse, but everyone had summer plans and the group fizzled.

Denise's (a local ice cream place, now in Clintonville where Maggie Moo's used to be) makes Guinness ice cream. It is delicious--they must do it better than the place you went.

Oh wow, I'm so glad they put another ice cream place in where Maggie Moo's used to be. That was my favorite location to get fatty fat fat!!
