I feel really off this morning. My balance is seriously out of whack. I rolled out of bed and when I started walking out of the bedroom I really felt like I was going to tip over. I showered and it seemed a little better but then I stumbled stepping out of the shower. Now I've been sitting for a while and I feel okay, but I'm almost dreading standing up. My throat feels a little scratchy and I had some orange juice, so maybe that will help.

My coworker had really bad bronchitis and was out for a week (but she's as stubborn as me and came in every day until people made her go home). My kids are all boogery and flail their illnesses in the air around me at all times. I've been fighting various illnesses since a couple of weeks ago and have been mostly okay, and I really want to keep that streak up. At least until I have health insurance.

Some days I want a nice, easy cubicle job where I hardly have to see anyone, and I don't have to help anyone blow their noses and no one coughs in my face and my hands don't get covered with half-eaten yogurt and cheerios. I know I was sick a WHOLE lot less when I worked in offices. Dang it.

Sounds ear-infection-y, sweety. Fingers crossed that it's viral -- those go away on their own.

So far, no ear issue. But I will keep my ears peeled for any further problems. ANd hope I don't have any, since I'm sans health insurance! :)

The balance/dizzy is what makes me think ears.

Yeah, I'm paying close attention. Ear problems are one of the LAST things I want!

I also think it sounds ear related. DOn't mess around with that stuff. Trust someone who knows.

So, when you have the off balance type ear infection, it's actually inner ear, where we can't look without a bone saw. And that'd make you feel worse. :)

It sounds like BPV, benign positional vertigo. It's usually viral, gets worse with rapid movement of your head, and is usually pretty short lived (sometimes a day, sometimes a week, etc).

You can get meds from your doctor, or you can cheat and go to the store and get some dramamine. It's the exact same ingredient as in Antivert, the stuff that I write for people when they come in with this.

So get some dramamine, get some rest, and drink more OJ. If you're not better in a couple of days, consider seeing your doctor.

Okay, pompous medical know it all out.

Thank you, Dr. Monster! :)

I felt kind of off for most of the morning, and drove from place to place feeling pretty blah. When I got to the office at around 11:15, I had a cup of hot, yummy coffee and felt a lot better. So I'm thinking maybe I just didn't get enough restful sleep or something, and was just totally wiped.

I haven't felt dizzy yet, and I haven't felt like I was going to tip since this morning. So I will now pretend to be a doctor myself and say I had low blood sugar and the sleepies.

(Besides, it's not like I can see a REAL non-online doctor yet because I have no insurance. So you will have to be my online PCP!)

But the thing is, I haven't (all this time) felt totally sick. I've felt like I was fighting something for the last couple of weekends, and have just been really tired. So I think it's just because I'm new at my job, and new to all of the kids, and kids have 87932709872943 million germs ALL THE EFFING TIME.

But I've actually been very healthy, considering. I mean, I haven't taken a drop of medicine all this time, and haven't had a stuffed nose or anything. Just general blah-ness and the occasional scratchy throat. Not too bad.

*goes to knock wood really quickly*

See, that's just why I didn't call you this weekend - figured you wouldn't want to be exposed to the creeping crud, forgetting of course, that you get it everyday anyway.

Feel better soon!

Ha! I eat the creeping crud for breakfast on a daily basis! You should be more worried that I bring all the germs to YOU.

You are going through what I went through when my kids first went to school, Your body is getting use to all the kiddie germs. You might get a bit more sick the ususal BUT the good news is your immune system will be a hell of alot stronger in time! Take a really good vitamin, especially if you are not eating right. That will help with your energy level too.

I was also thinking, I mean, I do not know you but reading your journal.. well, You seem to be doing some serious thinking these days and you are not 100% happy where you are living, have the stress of $$$,all that fun stuff of being a grown up these days. Stress can really take its toll on you ! You will be amazed how it can. It effects our sleep, our piece of mind. I know first hand when I am stressed I feel like I am always fighting this on coming cold that never seems to come! Then I just get run down and BOOM! It hits me ! I know they say b complex vitamins help, other then that you need to lower the stress levels, find a hobby (a cheap one) get your mind of all that thinking !!!! I took a free class at home depot, and borders books(hey it was freeeee) I started a scrap books for my kids, anything to keep the mind from racing.... just my 2 cents.. sorry if I am butting in !!
Also just a FYI,not that I am a Dr or play one on TV but... when you do get insurance have the DR check your thyroid, I use to get the same dizzy things you described and thought it was lack of sleep and it was the old thyroid pooping out on me !
(explained the weight gain though !)

My insurance kicks in at the end of this month, and I'm due for my annual exam in November so I will definitely get everything checked out. I get my thyroid and pituitary checked on a semi-regular basis because I have hormone issues and so far it's all checked out but I can have them do it again.

And yeah, it's totally germs from all of the kids, and being in a new geographical location, and the weather change and all of that. And compared to a lot of people, I haven't been /that/ sick. I just never get sick so I /totally/ whine about it. :)

And you're right about the stress... that certainly adds to everything. I need to find some sort of stress-relieving activity soon before I go insane. I also need to get to a better place with my relationship, because all of the bickering and arguing is really wearing me down.

I so understand what you are going through, my husband and I have been bickering a lot lately and I am so sick and feeling blah. We just have so many LIFE DECISIONS to make right now involving our kids, our home, his job etc.. and we are so afraid to make the wrong ones. I, like your Jen would love to go back to school But I got pregnant right before I was going to go the first time around. During the early years with my oldest, my goals changed. Now my second child is going to be 2 next week and I am getting the itch again, But can we afford it? Right now it is all about our 2 boys, school will just have to wait for me I guess.
Last night my hubby and I got a sitter and went on a CHEAP fun date, we decided no matter what, we have to make a weekly date to do something to get things to a btter place. He is my best friend and I miss that. I am now searching for something to do with my time (not the I have much time) Book club, knitting club (would love to learn)anything, I even started offering to babysit neighbors kids to bring in more cash. I think i am nuts for that but we will see !! Best of luck with everything and if you ever need to vent you can email me, for a very unbiased opinion!!

I'm glad you were able to go on a cheap date! I need to find more cheap date locations here (I'm sure there are tons of them) so that we can go out and have fun. The only problem is that Jen works retail so she works a lot of evenings/weekends which is a total bummer since I'm a Monday through Friday 9-5er. Ugh.

I know what you mean about being afraid to make the wrong life decisions. Story of my life, really. HANG IN THERE! I'm wishing you lots of luck and clarity.
