I don't know what's up with me but as I was driving through Southie today on my way back from a client's home (actually Flaherty Playground on B Street but who's counting?) I was suddenly obsessed with the idea of getting married. This is really boggling because I've been pretty anti-ceremony for, like, my whole entire life. I wonder if it's just a phase, or a little blurb that popped into my brain. Who knows? I just keep getting struck by how much I love her and want to give her the world. It's kind of nice that missing her is still an ache, even after all this time, even when we're only apart for a work day. Right now all I can think about is curling up under a down comforter with her, holding her hand in the warmth of the blanket, and smelling her skin. Mmmm.

I know that my Jennifer has told me that she really wants some sort of formal ceremony, but she has also said that it would be neat to get legally married for our anniversary (12-28). I doubt something formal can be pulled together by then, especially if I keep pulling 10 hour days and she keeps working a crazy retail schedule. So those of you who threw us a surprise birthday party... want to throw us a surprise wedding? ;)

My brother planned a wedding in a couple months. Of course, it was a white-trash shotgun wedding, but it can be done. :)

But you can't really have a complete surprise wedding in MA because of the whole license and blood test crap you have to do first. But you can plan something in a short period of time....but around the holidays would be hard if you wanted to have it somewhere other than a person's house.

Well yeah, the blood test and all of that kind of kills the surprise factor. I just really don't want to plan anything. I mean, I'm sure I'd have a good time at a wedding, but I'd really prefer to just go to the JP, get the paper signed, and maybe celebrate with some people after. Maybe I'm jaded because I already had a wedding. Who knows? All I know is Jen really wants something, and wants her family there, which means BIG PLANNING, and I'm not sure how to do that. (Certainly not by our anniversary.)

Wasn't there a show on TLC (or some similar network) where you pick a bunch of friends, and the wedding consultant comes in and they throw everything together in a week for $5000 without really involving you in the planning?

So all you have to do is find 6 or 8 or however many friends who can give up a week of their life around Christmas for you. Oh, and make sure that jibes with the show's production schedule. :)

Massachusetts will grant anyone a one-time permission to perform a wedding, so you don't actually *need* a Justice of the Peace or a Reverend.

I don't see how you can get a surprise blood test though, as that takes a couple of days to process before you can get the license.
