No good very bad day
Nov. 12th, 2004 10:41 pmUgh. Today was one of the worst days I've had in a long time. I think I'm going to go to bed for a million years.
I did an assessment this morning on a kid that was only mildly bonkers, but who had a totally bonkers 4-year-old sister who was all but physically assaulting the three of us doing the assessment. No, really. She was trying to pull out my earrings, was pulling on my hood and choking me, and actually tried to wrap her hands around my coworker's neck.
We got out of that and I quickly ate my teeny lunch, because I was planning to be home by 3:30, 4 at the latest. I went to my home visit at 1:00 to find that my teen mom with the failure-to-thrive toddler just found out she is pregnant with #2. Personally, I just hope she finishes high school. From there I went to a cute little baby assessment, and was out at 3:30 and ready to go. And then one of my dippier coworkers (who is a supervisor, which irks me) locked her keys in her car, and she doesn't have AAA (how can you have a car-based job and no AAA?), so I used my AAA for her but then had to actually wait for them to come so they could see my AAA card. So I sat in my car in the cold sleet with her for an hour until the dude came and let her into her car. Meanwhile, she asked me 879279827954 questions about my life. I then had to run back to work to drop off my time sheet.
While I was packing up to leave, one of my other coworkers calls to tell me that one of my kids' moms didn't pick him up from playgroup at 3:30. It is now 4:45, and the rule is that if a kid isn't picked up by 5:00, we call DSS. So I call all over creation and end up calling his grandmother and asking if I can go drop him off there. She says yes, so I pack the kid and his car seat into my car, leave Mom a note on the school's front door, and drive over to Grandma's. I then race home. It is now 5:30.
I take Jen to get a haircut. The weather is bad, the windows are all fogged, and I have major anxiety. We get to SuperCuts and I don't have my stupid saver card. Again. So I wait in the car. Oh wait, we also had a big argument in the parking lot. We drive home. I attempt to sleep, it is unsuccessful. Jen orders chinese food and I eat a spring roll. It gives me heartburn. I am also coughing. My knees hurt. I am whiny. I bailed on Mindy's game night. I am going to bed.
On top of that, I found out one of my friends lost his job today, and now I am worried.
