I was gone for TEN MINUTES to drive Jen to the JFK/UMASS T and during that time, someone stole my clean parking space.

Aah, welcome back to The Dot. Time to put a big Rubbermaid bin in the trunk to guard the parking space. (And yes, I am One Of Those PeopleTM.)

You should prolly put a threatening message from the cats on the side of the bin too.

(P.S. I still have a duck in my freezer... *wink wink nudge nudge*)

Ooooh, qwack!

(For the record, this Sunday we're having out with [livejournal.com profile] lorac because she's moving to Japan, and next Sunday we have tentative plans with [livejournal.com profile] pantsie and [livejournal.com profile] humanbeatbox because we've lived here for almost 6 months and they haven't hung out with us yet.)

We definitely have to set something up, and soon. WE MISS YOU!!!!

Also, I agree re: the cats. Heck, I should just stick them outside to guard the parking spot. With guns.

Before I looked otside for the first time, I was thinking that guns might be a bit much. Now I think guns are the only think that will keep your spot. I hear the Bush family has some great deals on guns...

Dude, seriously! It's a total mess out there! I guess all of the reports that said that Boston would get mostly rain while places south and east would get more snow were TOTALLY WRONG.

If we got this much, I'm afraid to call my dad (in northern RI) and find out what it looks like down there. I'm supposed to take him out to lunch today.

I was in Blackstone last night at Min's. Last night at 12 am she had more than we did when we got in at 2. It WAS snowing down there all night.

When I was in college, I drove a white pickup truck. Coincidentally, all of the campus trucks were also white pickups and mostly of the same make/model, so I picked up one of their orange traffic cones for parking space reservation usage. It worked for a really long time, saving my parking spot in the dorm parking lot, until someone stole it.

FRAT BOY BASTARDS!

*ahem*

Oooh, that's quite clever!

See, I park on the street. And I had this wonderfully clean, close parking spot. AND SOMEONE STOLE IT. Probably right after we left it. Therefore, I had to park further away /and/ parallel park in the snow with iced-over mirrors. I HATE WINTER.

You HAVE to guard your place. It's the only way to be able to park!
(sorry you lost your space :()

I just looked out the window and my spot is empty once again. So maybe when I go outside in an hour to drive to my dad's, I'll slip something in the spot.

(My street is pretty easy to park on - not a lot of cars. It should be okay.)

This is totally irrelevant to the parking conversation, but the band Jucifer grinds my bones to dust and sprinkles them on me like a magic pixie of rock. I less than three them.

Hmmmm... I grew up in the Boston area, and my guess is the response up there would, essentially, leave you without a Rubbermaid bin for future use.

Unless Bostonians have gone soft in the past six or seven years! =)

I was amazed when I first saw people staking out their parking spots - seems to be a popular (albeit officially illegal) event in the Lehigh Valley area...

I admit that I was amazed by the phenomenon the first time I ever visited Boston. I didn't grow up too far from here but we had a driveway so I guess it wasn't a big deal.

And yeah, it's illegal, but so many people do it that nothing ever happens. It's not really traceable, either - unless people start slashing tires or something.

I wouldn't put a /good/ bin out there... we have so many junky ones and milk cartons and broken garbage cans. You know, the standard fare.

There's a house near WPI. When parking starts to fill up, they move their cars from the driveway to in front of the house because they don't like people parking in front of their house.

Remind me to kill you and all the other people that think that blocking off parking spaces is legal.

Legal or not, the last thing I need to be doing is shoveling out a parking space for SOMEONE ELSE.

oh come on.

It's not your space. It's everyone's space. You shoveled it out for everyone.

And really, the last thing you need to be doing is eating broken glass. :)

1. Why are you stalking me? ;)

2. I know there are plenty of spots. I was mostly kidding. I actually just pulled into my old, clean parking space about 10 minutes ago.

My landlords have a driveway. Maybe they will go out of town so I can park in it. Actually, there is a little driveway on the other side of the house too, but the second floor dude (aka The Mail Stealer) uses that one.

There's actually a lot more street parking available than I let on. It's not like Neil Avenue, where you would be out there shoveling your spot and someone would be in their car just WAITING for you to vacate.
