I have had it in for Ami for quite a while now, although I only watch Survivor occasionally. I had no idea she was gay and hadn't actually wondered about anyone's sexuality in the game - I just look at the challenges and things.
Ami bugs me because she seems to be in charge because she's the cool, popular kid rather than because she could actually lead in a bad situation. I suppose that also any alliance based formally on gender irks me, whether it's women or men.
She's got a lot of physical strength but there's the constant thought in my mind that she'd be the first person I'd get rid of because her disruptive behaviour would ultimately be to the detriment of the group. Of course this is assuming that the group would be going on for some time.
It's probably a personality thing that I'm trying to rationalise - and, let's be honest, it's only a TV show and we have no idea how much of the footage we're seeing. :)
I'm not particular about the sexual orientations about the characters on Survivor, but there was a lot of hype this season about the lesbians (Scout and Ami), especially Ami because she once posed for Playboy and is also quite attractive. So we've been watching the season keenly for any mentions of lesbianism (and they have been kept to a minimum).
I admire her for sticking to her guns with the female-only plan. She's right when she says that no women's alliance has ever held and stuck to the end, and I guess her doubts were proven true when Twila and Scout and Eliza joined with Chris to axe Leann (Lee Ann? LeeAnn? LeAnn? Leanne?). Yes, it's interesting the way she seems to have "control" over the other women but I think that's largely attributed to editing more than lesbian voodoo powers. I think she's a charismatic person who emerged as a leader, and because she's queer they've edited a lot of women hugging and kissing, painting each other's bodies, etc. as some way of emphasizing her strong feminine wiles or whatever.
I don't see her behavior as at all disruptive. I agree that she is the cool, popular kid and that she probably has been her whole life. As a result, she probably is not used to /not/ getting her way, and I imagine this vote will prove to be quite the surprise and will rock her little world. But I still like her, and I like looking at her. ;)
I can't believe I just devoted this much effort to this. ;)
Really? I just don't like her because she is way too cocky. I tend to root for the underdogs, of course she is one now but still... I would love to see Scout or Chris win. Ami is just kind of overbearing and controlling.
Scout is annoying me lately. I used to be a big fan but now she is all about lying and stabbing people in the back. Lots of people are talking about Ami as being overbearing or whatever, but she is one of the most honest people on the game. She said on the first day that she wanted to see an all-female alliance take it to the end. And that's still what she wants. She's very direct. I have a lot of respect for that. Scout is pussyfooting her way around and backstabbing the people who got her where she is. Does she really think she would have made it to Jury Time /without/ Ami? Dear god, she hasn't done ANYTHING since she got to Vanuatu!
Yes I guess Scout is pretty annoying, still I think all in all outside the game she's a good person. I'd rather have her win over Eliza, I think. Ami has been pretty honest however I think she was pulling some stuff on Eliza last episode. I guess Ami just intimidates me. I kinda like Twila actually.
Something about Eliza makes me smile. I think it's because she's such a real person, with all of her hangups and insecurities. I used to like Twila until she swore on her son's life - I thought that was really tacky and it turned me off of Twila. Scout used to be cute but now she drives me bonkers, and don't even get me started about Chris.
At this point, I'd love Julie to win but it's SO not going to happen.
Was that not the AWESOMEST vote on the whole season? I have been waiting for WEEKS for someone to realize the key to breaking up that Amy alliance - I hate her.
OMG, I just told my brother tonight I thought Amy was in the mob and had threatened all their lives. HEhehe. It's the only way I can explain her odd control over them. I still hate her though. ;)
