The downfall to a four-day weekend is that it's nearly impossible to go back to work on Monday morning. I can't imagine that anyone, even someone who totally loves their job so much they want to kiss it on the mouth, is excited about returning to work tomorrow to deal with the inevitable backlog of stuff. Blah. I will probably try to go in a little early tomorrow morning so I can wade through voicemails and get back into the swing of things, but I will also probably regret that because I signed up for an evening assessment tomorrow and I think it's from 6 to 8.

December starts on Wednesday. That is so crazy I can't even fathom it. It's so trite but the years /do/ seem to fly by more quickly the older I get. And by older I mean I have lived 29 years, not "woah, pass the Geritol." Because if anything else, my time in putdowntheduckyWendy's dorm room proved to me that I am still young beyond my years. And that's a good thing.

My Jennifer and I had a wonderful time frolicking through the Happy Valley. It was weird to see how some things had changed since the last time I lived on Baga's couch in 1994? 1995? The Hampshire Mall is half Dead Zone, while the Dead Mall is bursting with popular chain stores. There is a fecking /Starbucks/ on Main Street in Northampton and people are actually sitting /there/ instead of the lovely Haymarket. However, there was nostalgia-a-plenty on Pleasant Street in Amherst, eating Bart's ice cream and looking across the way at D.P. Dough's. The Pioneer Valley is so lovely and quaint and quiet and clean. Jen sneezed in Target and four (FOUR!) different people said, "Bless you." And the Target is so big and full and stocked, as opposed to our South Bay Target that never has anything. (Of course they had the second box of our dishes. And of course we bought them. And of course half of them were broken. *sigh*) And we got to see oxlahunJ and jadefuJen not once but TWICE!

We got a ton of holiday shopping done, both in the Valley and online. Jen is buying some Levenger gifts for some of her family members and then we're pretty much done except for each other. We got a ton of talking done also, and while it didn't always go in the direction I'd like it to, it was good to actually have some concretes on the table. It was good to be away.

I've had the holiday music station on non-stop since Thanksgiving night and I have got the spirit, baby! We stopped to pick up some produce at Lambert's and they have all their trees out, and I think I conned Jen into getting a tree up to our third floor schwank! Now to pull out the boxes of ornaments and froo, and get to present-wrapping. Holidays here I come!

Ugh, I'm *dreading* going back to work tomorrow. Blah.

Plus, I have shows this weekend at the theater that I work at...and next weekend as well. That means (doing quick calculation) I will be working 19 straight days without a day off...yippee!

OK, I'm done bitching now.

UGH.

Hopefully you will rake in some big holiday cash out of it all! Hang in there!

See, I kind of like it being farther away. It still gets a lot of good stuff (concerts, etc.) but it's so quaint and pretty and good for kids! (I am getting SOOO old.)
