My Day At Work
Sep. 25th, 2001 08:25 pmI had a great day. Wow. I am an LJ-posting fool. Here's what I did today:
I got in early because I didn't have to spend a million years waiting for the Campus Loop. YAY. Then I fixed the poster I'm making for the Angela Motter show. Woot! She's CUTE. After that, we had a staff meeting, and while I was there, Brett (the boss person) asked me if I would help him out with the Angela Motter event. I said, "Like set up?" He said, "Like play host." SCORE. Oh yeah.
After that, I needed to smatter campus with posters for the upcoming October events for GLBTIA History Month. So I walked and walked and walked, in the cold autumn grey. All I could think was how much Princess would like walking with me. I got lots of exercise, walking all around campus, and into buildings, and up and down a million stairs looking for corkboards. Yar! By the time I got back to work, I was all kinds of warm, and had no more posters. COME TO MY EVENTS!
I worked on the Homecoming poster (There's No Place Like Homecoming For Coming Out) for a while, then met up with
happy2beso for Chipotle. Mmm! By the time I got back, I got to IM with my karate smurf for a little while. YAY.
I stayed at work until 6:15 or so. It was so much more pleasant since I brought in speakers and could listen to music. So all in all, I had a great day. Thanks for asking.
Tonight's agenda: A little chat with Princess, then pack and head to Bink's for a slumber party with her and Pajama Jones. She lives a good 25 minutes closer to my internship than I do. Rock.

Date: 2001-09-26 04:03 pm (UTC)So yeah, I was fortunate as a student, and I'm pretty fortunate here. OSU has a lot of closed minded people, sure, but it has SO MANY people, and Columbus is oddly enough one of the queer meccas of the midwest. So the idea that we have an entire office called Student Gender and Sexuality Services (as part of the school's 'diversity plan') is pretty amazing.
The story about your college scares the crap out of me.

Date: 2001-09-26 04:11 pm (UTC)It's what drove me out of being a practising Christian. They were definitely into "hate the sinner" not "hate the sin, love the sinner". The hypocrisy pissed me off so much that 8 years later I can't stand the idea of going back. OK not true, I have said that when I find a minister that I can't argue circles around, and who can present me with a sermon I can't shoot huge logical holes through, I will think about it. But people with my IQ aren't usually ministers, so I have yet to meet one. However, the ex-goth Anglican minister in Whitby who lets us get drunk in his churchyard would be top of my list. He's sooo cool, he said "Yeah I used to be a goth before I found Christ. Not that I have anything against goths now. But really, what other profession /encourages/ men to go around in black dresses every day?" Hee, if he lived in London I'd go to his church all the time!
