Winding down
Dec. 8th, 2004 09:57 pmWow - how did it get to be almost 10:00 already? I guess I used a bunch of time cleaning the house for our visitors tomorrow (Shani and Matt) and finishing up the holiday cards. Thursday is my day to go into work at 8:00 AM, so I should probably start winding down. The problem is that I don't really know HOW to wind down. Maybe I will try to read some more of that book club book. I'm on like page 50 out of something like 800 and we're meeting on Monday evening. I'm going to go to this invitation-only bookclub and be all "derrrrrrr" all over the place. Nice.
Not to mention, the book club meeting is one hour after a two-hour holiday party for our families at my work, so I will be spending two hours with a bazillion screaming preschoolers. Yeah, I'll have a mushed-up brain and an unread book. Charming.
On that note, it's time to brush teeth, get in bed with a book, and hope to the gods that I don't come down with strep any time soon. Yuck!

Date: 2004-12-10 03:44 am (UTC)2 cups granulated sugar
2 cups water
2 cups fresh cranberries
3/4 cup superfine sugar
Combine granulated sugar and water in a small saucepan over low heat, stirring mixture until sugar dissolves. Bring to a simmer; remove from heat. (Do not boil or the cranberries may pop when added.) Stir in cranberries; pour mixture into a bowl. Cover and refrigerate 8 hours or overnight.
Drain cranberries in a colander over a bowl, reserving steeping liquid, if desired. Place superfine sugar in a shallow dish. Add the cranberries, rolling to coat with sugar. Spread sugared cranberries in a single layer on a baking sheet; let stand at room temperature 1 hour or until dry.
