I'm kind of irritated with this whole book club thing. It starts with the fact that I didn't even get halfway through the book. Then I looked up the restaurant the meeting is being held at this month (Fugakyu in Brookline) and it's expensive. And since I am stuck at work until at least 6:15 tomorrow, I'm stuck wondering if I'm even going to make it to Coolidge Corner in time. (And parking. Will there be parking?) Bah! I wish I wasn't so determined to do something different and meet some people, because right now I'd rather just toss the whole thing and try again in January. Fie!

oi. fugakyu is pricey. that seems kind of crappy to have something like a bookclub meet at an expensive restaurant. i mean, wouldn't you think they'd go for, like, 1369 coffeehouse or something instead? i dunno. i wouldn't be pleased about that at all either.

Yeah, I have NO clue why they don't meet at coffee shops. I thought that was, like, an unwritten rule of book clubs or something.

Phooey.

Fugakyu is certainly pricey, but damned is it tasty.... I got taken there when I was up in Boston the last time.

Tasty is good. But who the heck picks an asspensive restaurant during holiday shopping season???!?

Plenty of parking in Coolidge Corner, in the large lot behind the Coolidge Corner Movie Theater.

Dude, I had no idea it was a crazy yuppie book club until just now!! I thought it was just a crunchy feminist book club. But really I guess it's The Oprah Book Club.

Yikes! That place is expensive enough that I've only eaten there twice.

That is so irk-inspiring - why would they pick that place to DISCUSS A BOOK??!?!

I don't know--did you go? I bet it's loud during the holiday season actually.

I didn't. It actually got cancelled. I got the e-mail when I came home (late) and decided not to rush up there. It's a good thing, because if I /was/ going to go I would have run up there without checking e-mail. Rushing up there to find it was cancelled would have pissed me off to no end.

wow...that is shitty. i guess they figure since it's only once a month the cost won't be a big deal? *shrug* who knows...

i say you just wait for next month when you have more time to plan

Good plan. Especially since tonight's got cancelled, thank goodness!

I am /so/ behind on this book. Even if I force myself to read as much as I can, I still only get about 50 pages a day. I have too much crap to do than just sitting around reading random books! Do these people have jobs?

(Actually, I'm sure they do. But their jobs probably afford them the luxury of, you know, a lunch break. Or maybe set hours. Like, 40 of them. With time to breathe sometimes. *grin*)
