The whole book club meeting thing ended up being a moot point. I left work tonight at 6:45pm, and still have at least an hour's worth of work to do here at home. I will e-mail an apology to the club moderator, and hope they invite me next time even though I've missed the last two months.

Social work jobs really kill any sort of prescribed social life, it seems.

ETA: BONUS! I just checked my e-mail, and the moderator cancelled book club for tonight. SCORE!! :) (I am SOOOOO glad I didn't race out there after work.)

H3y B3b3h!

I see you are working as crazily as I am...
so if I may force you to work off-hours?

My godson is having an EI eval on Thursday and I had some questions for my resident 'expert'. Got any time to spare?

Sure! What do you need? Do you need me to be on AIM or something? I have a little bit of time before bed.

(I can't believe I /just/ finished what I brought home from work. At 10:45!)

the real question is...

... will you finish the book in time for the next meeting, or is there a new book you now have to read?

DOH!

Well, is the new one any shorter? And what's the meeting venue?

The new one is Into the Forest by Jean Hegland. I don't know if it's any shorter. And invites haven't come out yet so I don't know the venue.

I'll keep you posted.

It is very hard to have regular social activities when you're a social worker. I still had a social life, but it worked around paperwork and crisises...Good luck!

Luckily I don't come into contact with too many crises at my current job. (Not yet anyway, phew!) However, I spend so much time doing home visits that when I try to catch up on paperwork, phone calls, and all that "extra" stuff, I end up working crazy hours.

Last night I was up until 12:30AM making a goodbye book for one of my kids who's leaving playgroup on Thursday. I have evening appointments four days this week (not Friday). What the heck am I doing???!?!?
