If we get multiple feet of snow tomorrow night into Sunday, I seriously think I will just cry and cry and cry. Snowstorms make my job so freaking difficult and stressful. Even though the driving surfaces of the roads will be mostly clear by Monday morning, there is the possibility of two feet of snow arriving, which will all be stacked all over the sides of the roads. This makes parking a nightmare in an already congested environment.

I know that some friends of mine think I'm overreacting with the whole snow thing, but I also don't see them driving all over the city hour after hour, looking for mounds of snow short enough to drive over, climbing out of the car into other people's snowpiles, and trying to parallel park over snowbanks and ruts. Hour after hour, five to six times a day, relentlessly. It's easy to holler about how ridiculous I am, how I should "get over it" or "get some exercise and shovel" when they're sitting in their climate controlled offices watching the snowdrifts blow out the window instead of falling all over the uncleared sidewalks.

I am already loathing Monday morning.

If I win the lottery I will buy you a hovercraft for Valentine's Day.

How about a jet pack? It's 2005 - shouldn't we have jet packs by now??!?!

Jetpacks have been canceled to pay for Inauguration Day festivities. It's hovercraft or walk, baby.

If you still lived here, you'd see people reacting the same way over one inch, while also only having to drive back and forth to work. This whole city fails at life.

I'm more boggled at the people in Ohio who begin driving like idiots when it starts /raining/. What is up with that??!?

I don't blame you at all...snow sucks, but visiting clients in snow (on streets that are generally cleared last and not very enthusiasticly) is the worst. Well, okay, the worst is having to drive on snowy roads while the snow is still on, but what you describe is a close second. I will think warm and toasty thoughts for you!

See, I think I'd much rather drive an hour on an unplowed street than spend a week (or more, depending how long it takes to melt down some) walking miles in frustration trying to visit clients in congested and downtrodden areas.

And you're right - the areas I spend the most time in are certainly the ones least considered when it comes to snow removal, it seems.

(I know that YOU would understand where I was coming from here.)

This is why we only go into Boston two or three times a year. Not only do I hate parking there, driving there is insane. Plus, my current car is actually a yacht in disguise. Parking it requires more patience than I normally have within the city limits of Boston.

You're allowed to be cranky about the snow. But it hasn't started falling yet, sweetie.

It's true, you DO have a gigantic vehicle. Do you have AWD? At least with your massive size, you could crunch small snow piles in a single bound! (As opposed to our little Focus.)

And I know it's silly to get worked up before the snow even comes. I can't help it sometimes, though. I just want to fast forward to April or so in order to make my job a little less frustrating.
