So it took a long, long time, but the car is now free of the feet upon feet of snow cast upon it by a combination of the blizzard, the plow trucks, and the asshats who parked in front of me, who decided that the best place to put their cast-off snow was on our hood. Honestly if I hadn't come outside I bet there would have been three more feet on their at the rate they were going. I think the lady across the street felt bad about what the other person had done, since she shoveled a little path to the front door of the car after we came out. I also helped the landlord shovel our front walk and part of the sidewalk, and in thanks his partner made us a lasagne. So that's cool.

I called one of my more seasoned coworkers to find out the skinny on snow policy at our job. She basically said that my agency's policy is that it stays open at all times, even if we can't do home visits because of the snow. Employees are expected to come in or use a vacation day. (Since I don't have any vacation time yet, I know what my options are.) What's ridiculous is that our parking lot probably isn't even plowed yet. I called our Director and she said she was waiting to hear from the bigwig ED of my whole entire parent agency, but that he never, ever closes the company. She ended the call saying that if he closes, she will have all of our supervisors call us. It's after 8:00 and still no call, so I suppose I'll be heading into work in the morning. The whole freaking /state/ is closed, and I don't have any paperwork to catch up on, but I guess I'll go sit there and chat with the other people dumb enough to come in.

It's a freaking State of Emergency declared by the governor, for crying out loud. And there's a driving ban /and/ a parking ban (kinda makes home visits impossible). This is the stupidest work policy ever.

Why can't someone just pay me to stay home? I get so much done when I stay home. Heck, I even made Jen a lunch today to take to work! When she was getting ready to leave I gave her the lunch and said, "If you would only get a job that paid enough for me to stay home, I would make you a lunch every day!"

Do you think it will work?
