My great uncle died this afternoon. Hunh. That didn't take long at all.

I hope that 'that didn't take long' is a 'good' thing, in as much as something can be - that his passing was swift and as painfree as it could have been. I'm thinking of you, and esp. your grandfather, who is probably going to have a bad time with this.

Well, I'm not sure it's either 'good' or 'bad,' as I wasn't attributing any value judgments to the statement. I guess I meant more like: he's been sick for a while but no one in my family never updates me on anything, my father mentions on Friday that he's been in the hospital again for a little bit, I go down there on Saturday and visit, he's dead on Sunday. A swift turn of events, considering the length of time it takes for me to get any sort of information from my relatives.

I'm worried about my grandfather, definitely. I'm sure he spent today contacting relatives in Portugal and Brazil to keep himself busy, but as someone else who has but one older brother, I can imagine that he must be beside himself.
