I also find it ironic that my grandfather always picks Easter Sunday to bust out the delicious rabbit recipes he has.

Mmmm, Easter Bunny! So delicious!

(There was an overabundance of MEAT today. There was ham, rabbit, /and/ kielbasa. And shrimp cocktail and cheese and crackers and pepperoni. And mashed potatoes, pierogies, candied carrots, peas, hot buns, portuguese sweet bread, and salad. And carrot cake, apple pie, ice cream, coconut cream pie, mini cupcakes, and custard cups and fried dough from the portuguese bakery. Dear god, but I am disgustingly full.)

Foodie queers unite!

Mmm, pierogies.

How _is_ rabbit? That and goose are on my 'to-gnaw' list.

Personally, I think rabbit is quite tasty. At least the way my grandfather makes it, which is the only way I've ever had it. It's quite yum.

Conversely, I once had goat at someone's graduation party, and it wasn't very yum. I also don't like gamey meat like venison and stuff. Buffalo steaks were pretty tasty, but made me incredibly sick because I don't eat red meat ever.

Never had goose. Can't help you there. I like duck, though.

So many of God's creatures are so _tasty!_

Never had goat, no. Duck is teh yum, s'true.

Oddest thing I've ever caught myself enjoying was jellyfish from our traditional dim sum place -- surprisingly good, especially considering I'm tres picky about my seafood.

I would liken it most to abalone or calimari. The sauce/broth/marinade makes all the difference.

I would be interested in your family's recipe for portuguese sweet bread. My mother used to make a recipe called "portuguese sweet bread" that I loved, but I haven't been able to find that recipe.

Unfortunately, my family's recipe for Portuguese sweet bread is to go to the Portuguese bakery and buy some. Sadly, I don't know that I've ever known my relatives to bake their own sweet bread. If I come across a recipe, I will certainly let you know!

"you mean, bunny rabbit?"

Damn Woman, you have eaten a lot lately. Dude, where do you get RABBIT? I mean, do they sell this in the grocery store? Hrmph. I live in the SOUTH and I've never seen RABBIT for sale. :)

I think most people who eat rabbit hunt it themselves, just like venison.

I know that in our hometown, there's someone who raises rabbits. I occasionally see them frozen at the grocery store, too.

It's true, I'm a fatty.

My grandparents swear that they can sometimes get frozen rabbit at the chain grocery store in town, but my grandfather said that he usually goes to this specialty market in another town that caters to spanish/portuguese/latin cooking. And that you can get the whole rabbit if you want, head and all!

I don't eat a lot of meat, especially pork. I eat pork about 2-3 times a year, tops. Ham is an Easter thing and that's it. But it was quite yum.

Mmmmmmm. Next year you can come with!
