I'm starting to lose steam with this journaling thing. I hope it comes back to me. I'm almost at the four year mark!

So Friday night was the Duran Duran show, and I had a fabulous time. I like hanging out with the Maxwell Gang - they know some cool people. I got some time to chat with Tamar during dinner, and with Jay on the walk back to Kenmore. Good times. Also, of course I love Duran2 with all my 80s heart and they were equally as good as when I saw them in Phoenix in 1993 which was The Best. They sang all the old favorites, including "Wild Boys" which I know they sang just for me. I don't know any of their new stuff but from what I heard at the show, it was pretty good. We had pretty good seats, off the floor but facing the stage, and no one stood right in front of us so we could even sit and enjoy everything. Also, Wiley's friend Oren happened to be sitting right behind me! What are the odds??!

Also, I saw (I SWEAR TO GOD) my high school geometry teacher, Mrs. Beaudry, at the concert. That was surreal.

Yesterday it rained a whole lot. Jen and I lazed around the house for a million years and then went up to Border Cafe, where I realized they took my favorite thing off the menu. Aaah well, it was still tasty and I ate too many chips. We were going to go bowling, but it didn't happen. Instead, we hit Friendly's for another installment of the Saturday Night Ice Cream Club. God, I was so sick. I am SO eating better food this week.

This morning I got up and watched Cidade de Deus which was absolutely amazing. And then went to McKenna's for breakfast. And then to the grocery store with Tim. And soon we will go to Coworker Gina's for dinner. Whee!

All we've been talking about lately is Columbus. That's so weird.

There is nothing of substance in this journal. Please rent Cidade de Deus. That is all.

Dude, Mrs. Beaudry was 200 years old when I had her as a teacher in Grade 9. That makes her 300 years old now!!

I miss the days where I could go places. ;)

I saw Duran Duran in 7th grade(with my then boyfriend Alan Burner- his mom dropped us off). The first song they did was... god I can't remember now.
ugh.
It'll come to me.

you must have been hallucinating.

mrs beaudry did not go to a duran duran concert.

there was the girl in my grade who used to eat the leaves off of mrs beaudry's plants.

when's the last time you went to visit at the msc?

Dude, I am SO telling the truth. A fellow Mountie was with me and he confirmed the Mrs. Beaudry-ness.

Did you know that a friend and I made voodoo dolls of Mrs. Beaudry? I would poke the doll during my physics class with Mrs. Ferrari while Jessica was in geometry... I would record my pokes and Jess would record Mrs. B's movements and twitches. HA!

Umm, the last time I went to Mount was umm... crap, I think I was married. '99? I totally ate in the caf that day. I'm due for another visit. We should go!

city of god was one of the best movies i've seen in my entire life..it made me feel so many different emotions in the course of 2 hours that i couldn't tell at the end if i was happy, sad, horrified or optimistic. the scene at the beginning where the little kids running around with guns left the biggest impression on me...i just can't imagine that kind of hopeless feeling.

The whole thing was just so... riveting. I couldn't keep my eyes away for a minute. Sometimes coming of age stories are so feel-good... and sometimes. Eek. Sometimes I'm just glad it's not me.

not sure if you saw this in the c-bus comm and not sure if it's up your alley, but here it is anyway... :)

My agency in Marysville (about 15 miles NW of Dublin) has a job opening for a mental health case manager. If you have at least a bachelor's in social work, psychology or a related field, and some experience in mental health and/or social services, you may be qualified. Reliable transportation is absolutely required. This is not a low-stress job.

If interested, email me at dubin.8 at osu dot edu for more info. Note that I don't actually do the hiring; I'm just trying to make sure they find a good candidate (there aren't many so far), and get someone hired soon, as we are desperately understaffed.

Heh, "dubin.8@osu" is my friend [livejournal.com profile] vorpalbla. We went to grad school together and worked our first post-MSW jobs together at Faith Mission. I am very familiar with both his job and his paycheck!

(And nah, it's not up my alley at all. But thanks!!)
