This has been a pretty good weekend with lots of time outside in beautiful weather. I really like beautiful weather and think it should be a requirement. At all times. (Okay, it can rain a little bit for the flowers and whatnot. I concede.)

On Friday I left work at 2:30 and headed home hungry. (When I leave work early on Fridays I don't usually pack any lunch.) I picked Jen up and we went to the coast to eat more beach food and walk along the shore. Unfortunately it was very breezy on the coast and ended up being too chilly to take more than a quick walk. We ended up taking a little drive through Quincy before heading home. Jen took a little nap and then we went to the Big Apple Circus. I was glad to see that they don't use any wild animals. They did do one horse act that made me a little queasy because the horses looked a little sickly, but the rest of the animal stuff involved dogs, cats, and birds. And they didn't have to do anything /too/ crazy. The rest of the acts were all people. It wasn't the best thing I ever went to or anything, but some of the trapeze, acrobat, and dance acts were pretty cute. And they had STUNT CATS!

On Saturday I had intended to go to the gym before babysitting but I got wrapped up in watching documentaries instead. I babysat from 1:00 until 7:30 or so and that basically involved me getting bossed around for 6.5 hours. Toddlers are notorious for demanding play, and Kid was no exception. I basically followed her around all day and we had many, many chats all revolving around the word "why." She was really well-behaved, though, so I really can't complain at all. And her parents paid well, so that was good, too. When I got home, I was frickin /exhausted/. Jen and I are watching season four of "Queer as Folk" on DVD right now, so we watched two episodes and then went to bed. Jen was feeling ill. This would continue through the entirety of the weekend.

On Sunday morning I woke Jen up so we could go to McKenna's for breakfast, as is becoming tradition. We got there around 9:00 to beat the crowds, and headed to Target afterward. When we got home, Jen said she was too sick to do anything and promptly went to bed, leaving me with no smoochie for the day. This is especially sad because Sunday is our only day all week that we have to spend together and I was feeling really crappy about it, which resulted in a big argument that I regret (of course). I hate arguments, and just plain wish we didn't have them. So I felt pretty crappy but made plans with folkyboyTim anyway.

I met Tim at Downtown Crossing where we ate some fatty chinese food and then walked around for a bit up Beacon Hill and down to Science Park. I took some pictures around town but whenever I have my camera anywhere near Tim, he demands that I recreate his senior portrait experience. So I took a million pictures of Tim and then we T'd back to the Common/Public Garden and people-watched for a while. I think we sat on "Cruising Row" or something because all of the benches were chock full of gay men checking each other out.

After the park, we headed up to Kendall to see Cachorro (Bear Cub). This was a cute Spanish movie about this gay bear dude who is babysitting his nephew and due to unfortunate events ends up taking care of him for a while. It wasn't the best movie ever or anything, but it was cute and entertaining and I only had to avert my eyes once because these two bear guys were totally making out and licking each other's beards. Dude, I am so not about the body hair! So yeah, once again I was like the only girl in a 10 mile radius and also the only person in the theatre without back hair. Tim knew everyone in the theatre because they are all on Bear411 or some crap. After the movie, Tim and I went our separate ways. Jen and I talked for a bit and went to bed.

This morning I let Jen sleep in and finished reading my Larry Kirwin book. After Jen went to work, I got ready to meet saltyponyAmy for the marathon. I even used a hair dryer (which means I have too much hair and need to chop it off PRONTO!). I drove to her place and we T'd to Coolidge Corner to watch the runners. It was a good time and the weather was luxurious. I totally have this cute little pink sunburn on my arms, neck, and face, that should fade by tomorrow. What's cool is that I have these red bumps on my arms that my doctor says are caused by extremely dry skin, and I have been debating sunburning them (I know, I know, it's bad) to try to slough off the bumpy skin... so now I can try my experiment (if I end up peeling). We watched the marathon until about 4:30 and then crammed onto a trolley to get home. I debated going to the gym after but ended up hanging out, finishing laundry, eating a light dinner, and watching "Nanny 911." Also drinking a billion glasses of water because I was wicked dehydrated.

So yeah, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Not very exciting, I know. You can see all my groovy photos on Flickr.

This is probably a silly question...but does pretty much all of Boston shut down for the marathon? Like, was this a paid vacation from work, or did you just take the day off to have fun?

well...

There's a holiday only in Massachusetts called "Patriots' Day" (third Monday in April). The Marathon is run on Patriots' Day. Some workplaces honor the holiday and have the day off. Mine was one of them. :)
