1. Children of the Night: Should they dance with the devil in the pale moon light, or merely master the Russian language and troll San Francisco parks at night?
This paper contains facts. Look! Pregnant Man Gives Birth. That's a fact.

2. If you were a video game, which would you be?
Super Mario Brothers. I mean, really, who doesn't love a little Super Mario Brothers? The song is TO DIE FOR. And you can beat the game in 15 minutes or less if you're good enough. WHAT COULD BE BETTER??!?

3. Boston in the springtime: so much better than winter, or about the same?
Oh my god, is this really a question? NOTHING is worse than winter. EVERYTHING is better. Springtime is luxurious, anywhere. Spring makes even the crappiest places pretty, and Boston is already pretty! Right now all the trees and flowers are blooming, the sunlight is longer, people are outside, boats are on the water... It's good.

4. Windows or Mac?
I could care less. I have the crappiest computer ever. (It's a PC.) I use it for internet crap and to crop my pictures. That's about it.

5. What is your favorite regional accent to impersonate?
I love love LOVE the old school working class Boston accent. LOVE. I love going to home visits of my families in Southie. Man, those are some accents! I love doing that crap. Of course, when [livejournal.com profile] whirledpeas came to visit for the night a couple of months ago, she really taunted me about the way I say 'horrible' (HAHHHHribble) - which is apparently NOT how I said it in oHIo. Hunh.

From [livejournal.com profile] _epiphany_girl_:

1. What's the silliest/goofiest thing you've ever done for love?
Dude, I do silly things all the time! I don't know if I've ever done anything silly for love. Honestly. I have no idea. I've done a lot of sweet things for love, like made a scrapbook, wrote a "Book of Love," arranged weekends away, etc. But I don't know if I've done anything silly or goofy. Besides have that big wedding for my ex-husband.

2. Think of 10 years from now. Describe the house you live in, what you see out the window of your bedroom, and who's in the house with you.
We're (Jen, two kids, and I) are living in a modest home that we've made many improvements to in the yard and such. The walls are deep, vibrant colors and the house shows clear presence of children. It's tidy, but not immaculate. There are cats, and maybe a dog. It's full of Jen's paintings. There is music playing. Our bedroom overlooks the backyard, and there are children playing - ours and our friends'.

3. Tell me a family legend that you can neither confirm nor deny.
My cousin Timmy is said to be quite dangerous. I always thought he was a cognitively limited young man who had a rough childhood and poor social skills, coupled with a knack to follow the wrong crowd. But my mom's family sure is afraid of him.

4. You and I have talked a lot about sexual politics and identity. Where do you think your opinions on those matters were formed? What's your first memory of gender dysmorphia dysphoria (if that's what you believe you have) or of being gendered in a way that made you uncomfortable?
My opinions about sexual identity and the resulting politics came from nowhere other than my own experiences and thoughts. I am not terribly well-read on the subject (nor am I ill-read, but I am no gender scholar), nor do I often have scintillating conversations about these topics with peers. Sure, maybe I've picked up an idea or two from chats with a couple of friends in the know (yourself included), but for the most part my "arguments" are so passionate because they come from my own passions.

I don't consider myself suffering from any sort of gender dysphoria, nor do I have any set desire to change my gender. I really prefer to be fluid in both my gender identity and my expression. I've never been a big fan of rigid gender roles and have rebelled against them my whole life, to the dismay of my grandmother. I /do/ remember bucking the system as early as age five or so, when I really argued to wear my brother's clothing and to go shirtless at the beach and while bike riding.

5. What are your top 5 records of all time?
Dar Williams - Mortal City
Black 47 - Fire of Freedom
Indigo Girls - 1000 Curfews
REM - Eponymous
10,000 Maniacs - In my Tribe

You have seen the Redefined - Nintendo (Video).mpg, yes? It's 50 MB but if you haven't, let me know and I'll put it on my site. It's too cool for someone who likes old school Nintendo to not see.

I don't think I have. I don't have much time for Teh Internets these days.

I don't know how I missed this reply, but here it is! It's huge but very worth it.

Dude, thank you for saying that. I get a lot of flack for listening to 1000 Curfews so much. Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee = best ever.

Oh yes, IMT is the best of 10KM. But I dunno, Natalie solo (esp Ophelia) might beat it. It's such a hard call!

I never got into the Natalie solo stuff as much as the 10KM stuff... maybe because A. was super obsessed about Natalie so I never had to get into it myself. I went through a HUGE 10KM phase in high school when Natalie was still with the band. But Ophelia IS an incredible album, I agree. I'm especially fond of "San Andreas Fault."

I don't know her other stuff.

I think you would like a lot of Motherland, which IIRC is after you split with A (although maybe /just/ before, but I don't think so).

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it was during or after our split, too. What I meant was that I never had to buy Natalie stuff because he had it... and since I don't buy many CDs I just never got into any later albums.

Someday maybe I will take it out from the library or something.
