Tonight's SVU really stuck my heart in my throat, at least for the last half hour. Yowch!

I don't like to regularly agree with perps, but I have to go with Ray on this one. I think Elliott totally /did/ bait him. I think what happened in that episode is completely and totally unethical. There have been times in other episodes where I wonder, "Hmmm, would that really happen? That's not a great idea," but never like this. I am /furious/ at the thought that things like this might actually happen during police investigations.

Besides, Christopher Meloni always looks a little goofy when he's trying to be a tough guy. And what was with Mariska's hair??!? Someone please tell me they're going to fix that soon. She looks like a frumpy middle-aged hausfrau instead of my saucy, saucy Livvy.

I don't think you'll be lost, I just don't think you'll be as invested. Like any show, when you watch it season after season you become really attached to the characters. But it's seriously a good show, it touches on some hot issues and is a lot darker than a lot of other prime time TV. Besides, Mariska is le reow reow!

Give it a shot next Tuesday at 10 and see what you think! You can also watch reruns on USA every day of the week, though I don't know if you have cable. (I don't.)

Ummm, yes?

Don't kill me! Come visit instead!

We really lucked out into this place. It /is/ gorgeous. It's a bit farther out from the city than we would have liked, and it's still a touch too pricey for us, but we have so much light, airy space.

Total luck.

hair politics

i was pretty horrified at the hair, as well. the emmys were sort of a preview to such atrocities....i barely recognized Mariska!

my /mom/ even made a comment last time we were home that she thought she looked better in the earlier seasons.

i felt like a lot of the episode was forced. without giving stuff away, i'll just say it was just too obviously setting up the Elliott storyline for the season. i mean, that is the point of a premiere, right, but although i appreciate the mirroring done b/w elliott and perp ray, it was a little heavy-handed.

now if they could just write in a reason for benson to get her hair chopped off. let's send NBC some ideas.

Yeah, I agree about how forced things are. I think that's why I think he looks goofy when he's all RAWR, because it's so contrived. I think trying to make a parallel between Elliott and the people he is trying to convict is a poor plot device and not terribly believable. Sure, in some ways, we all make victims out of people sometimes, but COME ON.

Also, Mariska DEFINITELY needs an intervention with the hair. First Alex is replaced with Casey and then there's a hair fiasco. I can't take it anymore!!

We should send a petition signed by lesbos everywhere re: the haircut.

I thought the same thing about her hair last night... ew. I miss short, spikey Mariska. Although, she did look hot at the Emmy's... I barely recognized her. Did you know she played a stint on ER as Mark's girlfriend? She had long hair back then, and a doormat personality. I saw an old rerun recently and was like, wow. Strange.

I had no idea about the ER thing. WACKY!!

I so miss her season two cropped hair and tight shirts. Dear gods, but that was probably the hottest thing ever ever ever. That's how I ended up selling my soul to SVU!

Speaking of hair, yours is looking really cute!

Thanks.

Well, I miss my cropped hair, that's fo' sho'. It's in that awkward, feathered, mullet stage. I might like it more when I can braid it.

i find they bait a lot of perps don't they? or so it seems from my census of the show (which is barely)

Well, they do a lot of that TV cop thing, where they act all heavy-handed and weird, but I'd never really seen them actually bait perps to commit crimes.

This one really crossed the line, IMHO, and it wasn't believable. No supervisor, no police department, nobody would have let something like this actually happen. I hope.
