Attention Whore
Nov. 4th, 2005 07:49 amIf you read this, if your eyes are passing over this right now, even if we don't speak often, please post a comment with a memory of you and me. It can be anything you want, either good or bad. When you're finished, post this little paragraph on your blog and be surprised (or mortified) about what people remember about you.
I have to work until 4:30 today and I'm totally cranky about it! I know, I know, I'll get no love from the rest of you who work a full day every Friday. (But Fridays are the days I get to spend with my Smooch who works on Saturdays.)

Date: 2005-11-04 01:36 pm (UTC)I also remember you coming over to scrapbook for Jenn and sitting in the JGI Room across from my apartment, watching tv. I was sewing...you were scrapping. It was quiet.
....and I'll always remember going to get beer...in long neck bottles. I didn't want any of the beer they had in bottles...but I got one anyway....to say we had beer, in long neck bottles.
and whitetrashdatenight ... when you wanted to go back to your apartment, so you could put on flannel....and we took peektures of our downtheres
and the time you came into the bedroom...to say good morning and you had to go....and I was naked under the sheets....and you kept saying "You're nakie!"
I love you.

Date: 2005-11-06 02:43 pm (UTC)I've never been on the feminist communities. Shocking, I know. Maybe we met through Former Noog? Were you ever on the Dar Williams community (<lj comm=the_others)?

Date: 2005-11-07 03:57 pm (UTC)As the sun was sinking in the western sky, we reset the pieces for the final game. The score for the day, as usual, was even. You were smiling smugly, reveling in the knowledge that in seventeen years I had never once managed to win the final match.
You opened as I expected you would, and I countered your every move, taking first a pawn, then a knight, then a bishop. The tables had turned and I was sure to be the victor.
Then as I was about to deal the finishing blow, the earth shook beneath us and all the chess pieces trembled. The river began to boil and heavy clouds rolled across the darkening sky. A silver-white crack split the air between us and the chess board exploded, scattering kings, rooks and pawns. From the widening tear shone a blinding light, and thousands of trumpets sounded a terrifying fanfare. The archangel Gabriel stepped through the rift, holding aloft his magnificent sword and crushing your queen beneath his sandalled foot. With a mighty cry, he launched himself into the air and flew off into the night, followed by thousands of white doves. In his passing, the clouds parted and the earth stilled; the river was calm once more and the gateway through which Gabriel had come shrank to a single, silver spot that danced in the breeze like a butterfly and then disappeared.
"So," you said. "I guess we'll call that one a draw."
