What a week

There has been a distinct lack of updates not because I've been shot somewhere in my neighborhood while en route to recording my next hip hop album, but because I've been desperately trying to fight off creeping illness by going to bed at ridiculous-thirty every night. I'm not the sort of person that gets sick terribly often, certainly not "have to lay in bed" sick, but between working with a million germy children and working with other adults who work with a million germy children, sometimes it can't be helped. One of my officemates is one of those people that seems to catch everything that's going around (and doesn't take really good care of herself), and Coworker Gina was quite ill on Sunday when we went to her house for the Survivor finale. So, doomed.
My efforts have definitely been working, as I've been kind of run-down but mostly symptom-free for the majority of the week, although I did feel pretty crappy this morning which caused me to beg out of an assessment I was going to do earlier so that I could get home at noon. With the weather being as crappy as it is, I just didn't have the energy to fight out another two hours of work, and the assessment was with a little baby and I didn't want to bring my germs over there. Or something like that.
We have all of our holiday boxes ready to go out in the mail to South Carolina, Florida, and New Jersey. Now we need to take them to the post office and hope they arrive in time. Of course the day to do this is the windiest, rainiest day of December. Of course.
Since the tree is in the stand but undecorated (where it's been since Wednesday) and since I have a stack of holiday cards sitting on the counter that have been begging to be written while I've been languishing in bed, I'm hereby calling this year The Half-Complete Holiday. The goal is to get the tree and the cards finished this evening before passing out at another early hour. This means I won't be able to go to Jenny and Lisa's party, but they don't really want my germs anyway - TRUST ME. I'm hoping to be well enough tomorrow to still hit
skreeky's place, since I'm dying to see her house and really, how many of her parties/gatherings/invites am I going to cheese out of at the last minute, hunh?
In other news, Heat-Misering is working. This month's gas bill was only $15 more than last month's, and it's been colder outside. This is especially good because due to a receptionist screw-up, I only got paid for 25 hours in this week's check (rather than 40). CRAP! Wrong time for a halved check, people!!

Date: 2005-12-16 06:07 pm (UTC)Just kidding.
Go get a head of garlic, wrap it in foil (preferably with some olive oil), stuff it in the oven at 400 for 45 minutes, take it out, and eat it on toast (preferably without the peel). The whole thing.
Seriously. It cures the ick like nobody's business, even if it causes a little fartiness.

Date: 2005-12-16 09:57 pm (UTC)and, most people have canceled so it will likely just be a low-key night of pictionary if you feel up to it (i sincerely don't care about germs since i have 7 weeks off of school) : )

Date: 2005-12-16 11:43 pm (UTC)Jen's asleep right now so I'm not sure what's going on. The tree here still doesn't have any lights/decorations on it and won't until she wakes up, so that certainly puts a damper on any possible plans if I feel better, which I currently don't.
However, if things change I will call you guys and stuff. Okay?
p.s. That picture is wicked hot!
