Also, the 2005 award for Most Wrong Song Ever has got to go to:

Honky Tonk Badonkadonk by Trace Adkins

My grandfather has taken to listening to a country station in the car and now I fear I will NEVER be the same again.

Whoo-ee, shut my mouth, slap yo' grandma!

I haven't seen this video.

Obviously, I either need to fire up CMT, or go searching for it online.

What's doubly scary is that it's apparently very popular. It played on the radio both on the way TO and the way FROM the casiNO.

Hee. The song I get the biggest giggle out of is "Ol' T.W.'s girlfriend done slapped him out of his chair." My sister dated a guy named T.W. From what I've heard of his—wife, I think now, she would slap him out of his chair for looking.

If you do make an Ass Mix, let me know. I might have some other choice bits.

I am almost embarrassed to say that I actually went to a line dance lesson where this was the featured song. (it wasn't the reason I went, mind you...) I sat to the side and drank my beer, watching people (I won't call them my friends anymore...heh) take this lesson from the bounciest little gay boy I've ever seen. He was oddly cute and intriguing to watch...sort of like a cartoon. Anyway, they go through the whole lesson with no music and then they do the dance with the song. Well, when the music started, I just couldn't believe it. It was the dumbest song I'd ever heard, it made me feel that kind of embarassed that you feel when you're a teenager and your mom or dad does something dorky in public... I just shook my head and laughed. Then one of my so-called "friends" started singing some of the words...I hit him and told him to snap out of it. Heh. Anyway, the entertainment value of the entire experience definitely outweighed the embarrassment factor, so my presence felt justified. My point being, man, is that an awful song.

I had never even known of its existence until yesterday in my grandfather's car. I live in kind of a Country Free World, and it's nice. :)

Although I wouldn't have minded standing on the sidelines with you. I was equally horrified when I first realized what the words were saying. I leaned over to Jen and was like, "WOAH, Honky Tonk Badonkadonk!" I don't know if she really thought it was as horrible as I did, but man, I couldn't stop laughing.

Yeah, in the car ride home after that night...Lana said (out loud) "ahahaha, Honky Tonk Badonkadonk...blah blah blah", to which I responded "don't saaaaay that, honey."

I definitely go through phases with country music, but songs like that are what make me never *fully* admit to being a fan...

I'll admit.
I even sing along.

Except the slapping grandma part, that just doesn't make much sense.

Not that the "got it goin' on like Donkey Kong" part does...but...

Now I feel....dirty.

Date: 2005-12-24 09:22 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] judecorp.livejournal.com
You SHOULD feel dirty!

As for the "slap your grandma" part, I'm pretty sure it's just this Southern saying. I've heard people say things like, "These cookies are so good, they're gonna make you wanna go home and slap yo' mama." I don't know what it means, but I guess it's good. ?

Yeah, I don't get the Donkey Kong part either. What, exactly, does Donkey Kong have going on?

i can't lie, hearing that song in moderation cracks me up to no end. sort of like seeing r. kelly's trapped in the closet urban opera or a nelly video.. it's like "wtf... hahahaah.. how do people even come up with this stuff??"

anyhow, for what it's worth, trace adkins is known for his funny interviews and sense of humor.. he's done multiple voices for King of the Hill, even.

i can't be outraged or horrified at this one.. even my mom loves it. we heard it for the first time when she was helping me move to california and have laughed about it ever since :) I love people who have the guts to be silly. :)

Okay, R. Kelly's urban opera cracks my shit up like nobody's business, so I suppose I can't fault you for liking a little "Honky Tonk Badonkadonk." Besides, I love you.

But instead I think you should get your giggles from"Chacarron Macarron." (http://www.mundobachata.com/)

Every time I think I've heard the worst country song ever, along comes a new one that beats all.

This one topped She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy" on my personal list, and stayed there until I heard "Double XL".

Hm, Kenny Chesney, he's supposed to be the closeted one, isn't he?

Date: 2005-12-24 06:24 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] judecorp.livejournal.com
Beats me, I don't know anything about Kenny Chesney except that he married and then annulled Renee Zellweger. But those songs are incredibly scary.

Have you ever heard Junior's In Love (http://www.cowboylyrics.com/lyrics/diffie-joe/juniors-in-love-3982.html)?

I suppose that could be the "fraud" Renee claimed in getting the annulment. As it were.

I am so terrified of that song, but man, that video just creeps me out. It's like every sexist hip-hop video ever made... with a TWANG!

Great. I now have to hunt you down and kill you. Because I foolishly clicked on the link and heard the song, and I'm about to go to bed, and the last thing I will have heard is "Honky Tonk Badonkadonk."

I think--no, I'm 100% sure--that some useful piece of information stored in my brain was pushed out...and replaced by the tune and lyrics of this song.

You must suffer. I will find a way. Someday. When you least expect it.

you know what the worst part of this was?

I muted the teevee to watch this.

listened to about 2 minutes of it before I thought 'My lord. I can't...'

I read the comments.

And then I looked up to see that I'd missed most of Friday, I'm In Love on the Retro music video channel.

So not only did I have to listen to this 'we can be as sexist as the worst hiphop!' crap, but I missed seeing the video for one of my top 10 Cure songs (and possibly top 25 songs, period). Damn you.

Well, if it makes you feel any better, we can just call it a bonding experience. ;)

Besides, you can listen to "Friday, I'm in Love" any old time. But trauma is a much rarer occurrence.
