I suppose I should update this thing so I don't have to field 400 phone calls asking, "Did Jen take the job?" although, don't get me wrong, it's fun to be so popular for a few minutes.

She respectfully declined the job after a lot of thinking on her part, mostly about whether the goodness of having a well-paying job outweighed the badness of quality of life issues. I am both excited and sad at the same time, because I /do/ know this would have been an excellent opportunity for her career-wise and a boost for her self-esteem, although I hope she still has the self-esteem boost solely because they want her so badly.

Western Mass plans are back on, as are babymaking plans, which of course is exciting to me. It's so much fun to look at all of the affordable houses out there and daydream about when the money will come in from my father's house and we can set ourselves up. Hopefully dad's house will sell for enough that we can realistically buy a decent house without needing to rent there first and find lucrative jobs. I hope to have 40% or so to drop down on the house just from my dad's place. More would be even spiffier.

I hope with everything I have that Jen can find that mysterious "good job" out there sometime so she knows that this Florida opportunity wasn't the only opportunity she will ever see. I really want this "life" thing to work out for us, even a little bit. I know that life never runs totally smoothly, and that the best we can ever hope for is someone to ride out the bumps with, but I'd really like something decent for her (and us).

Here's hoping.

It was driving me INSANE not knowing if she took the job or not so I did some detective work yesterday & went to her journal & found out the news. I'm glad it worked out this way. Sounds like your future is bright.

Ha ha ha, you are quite possibly one of the cutest people in the world, Christy. No, seriously. I wish you didn't live in freaking Bozeman, because it would be fun to hang out. Although I do have another LJ friend in Bozeman - you should hang out with her, instead! :)

But you're the greatest. I dig ya!

I'm really happy for both of you. Of course there will be some things that may be harder now but that's life. I think you and she made the right decision; I really really can't imagine you in Florida.

Yeah, some things will be harder and some things will be easier. When it comes to my life, though (and I can only speak for me), I'd rather have the difficult things be financial and career rather than quality of life, civil rights, and dreams.

i have responded to entries of yours before (as your internet twin) and i think that my last was a bit harsh, and i apologize. i have since started my own lj; hence the username. you have talked about having to see a fertility specialist with regards to your desire to babymake. i am curious, is there a fertility issue other than being in same sex relationship? fertility is a subject of interest to me; i know the sensitivity, and i respect if you choose not to answer... i was just wondering.

Hello, Internet Twin!

I have been trying and trying to think of what your last comment might have been that was harsh. I can't come up with anything, so I'm guessing that either I didn't think it was harsh or it didn't bother me. So, no worries! :)

Welcome to the legit world of LJ.

As for the fertility thing, I have PCOS. So, male partner, female partner, I'd still be seeing a fertility doc.

i know you and jen are early in your journey toward parenting, but i noticed adoption is one option on the table for you. i am a birthmom; i placed my son in an open adoption through a really great agency in vermont, Friends in Adoption. they handle open, closed, domestic, and international adoptions, and have placed many kids with same sex couples. it was started over twenty years ago by this hippie woman who wanted to adopt but didn't fit the exact right "profile" so she started her own agency. she is still the director and it has stayed relatively small. there are like 6 women and they all work out of this great old house in a tiny town in vt. anyway, just thought i'd throw it out there:) check out their website, if you feel like it: http://www.friendsinadoption.org/

Thanks for the link to Friends in Adoption. They seem like a really nice agency, and we /would/ like to pursue adoption someday (but probably not private adoption, I'd really like to go through the state foster care system). Private adoption costs a whoooole lot of money up front, which isn't something we're prepared to deal with right now.

Fertility crap can run high, too... but here in MA the state requires health insurance to pony up. :)

Well huzzah! I hope Jen's not too disappointed; surely karma will provide her a new opportunity real soon. :) Personally, I think the boobs post is what made it all happen.

I definitely agree re: the boobs.

But I know that the sanguinary vampires lurk in Florida, so there was no way we could go there. Boobs or no.
