Rainy days

Another rainy day in the 'hood. It's way better than S-N-O-W, though, so I'm not complaining. It just sucks to go from house to house in the rain, and then try to figure out where to put wet coats and shoes and stuff. At least I only have two visits today, ending at 1pm! (I ended up adding another visit to my "only one visit on Fridays" routine because I was having scheduling problems.) And then I will go to South Station and pick Jodie up and we can start having crazy fun. I have no idea what that means, though, because I'm old and lame and stuff. But still.

Tomorrow is Billy Joel! Wahoo! Can I GET any older? ;) One of my (younger) coworkers is gushing about going to see Coldplay in Las Vegas and here I am going on about Billy Joel. I don't know if I've even heard a single Coldplay song. Ever.

Exile Island was pretty fun. My boss came, and I got a picture of her trying on my Survivor buff as a tube top... over her clothes. And Ben came, and Coworker Grace... and then Wiley came and secured our wireless network, so we (finally) stopped internetting the entire neighborhood. :) (Thanks, Wiley!) I like the cast this season (so far) - the usually obnoxious younger men are totally dumb as posts, the younger women seem pretty cool (and there's a social worker!), the older women are ridiculous, and there's an Asian older man who they seem to be editing as a walking Asian stereotype, down to his picking up the machete and saying, "Samurai chop!!" Aaah, Survivor.

I really don't want to go to work today AT ALL. If it wasn't for the fact that I'm scheduled to see two incredibly cute babies, I'd have to reconsider.

I think you should try Coldplay-- they're nice... but Billy Joel ROCKS!! Have fun.

BTW, I friend of yours recomended your journal to me and so I added you as a friend. Add me back if you like my journal.

PS I want a Survivor buff!

You should get a Survivor buff - they are super fun. The first thing I did when I got it was try it on as a tube top. All I can say is, "Dang, those girls are SKINNY."

:)

Still younger than me! I've seen Coldplay at least twice though. Never been to see Billy Joel but...

Going to see Queen + Paul Rodgers in March!

Party time! Excellent!

I can't imagine Queen without Freddie Mercury. Is it sad?

And you ARE older than me!

I've got the live CD of Queen + Paul Rodgers. It's all good. Paul Rodgers is even older than the rest of them - he was the lead singer for the bands 'Free', 'Bad Company' and 'The Firm'. Paul Rodgers

Oh, that's interesting. Thanks for the link to the biography!

p.s. On an unrelated note, will we ever see your old self again?

Don't worry about it, Coldplay is pretty much old people music too.

I don't have a clue what Coldplay sounds like, but I love, love love Billy Joel's music. I'm ever so jealous that you're going to see him in concert. =)

And I'm pretty sure I'm older than you by a few years... 1971. ;)

Yes, you've got me beat by a couple. But don't worry, I still love you! :)

You should try to catch him in concert sometime - it was fun!

1. You've probably heard a Coldplay song and just not realized it was them. One of their songs (and I have no idea of the title) is one of those overplayed songs used in commercials and as bumper music on all kinds of TV programs.

2. Since Coldplay basically sucks, and Billy Joel rocks, you owe nobody an explanation or apology. Good music is timeless. I mean, he was around before I was born, and I like his oldest stuff best.

Yellow.

Yes, several people have pointed out that "Yellow" song and I have definitely heard it. I'm not terribly impressed. I mean, it doesn't sound like nails on a chalkboard or anything but it doesn't really do it for me.

And I'm glad you're hear to stick up for me!

Billy!

I have to say, Billy Joel has a knack for both great music and great lyrics, and so many groups can only capture one or another. I wish you the best of times at the concert!

I do like Coldplay, mainly because it seems their sound is fairly different than most of the new emo bands around now. But I don't think they'll have th estaying powr of Billy Joel.

It's so weird, I mean, I know in my head that Billy Joel has been around FOREVER, but it was so trippy to hear him say things like, "And this was written in 1974..." or whatever and being like, "CRAP, THAT WAS 30+ YEARS AGO!!"

Amazing.

You should be glad if you've never heard a Coldplay song.

Gloria went to see Billy Joel a couple of weeks ago and said she was the youngest person there...besides Billy's new wife.

As for Coldplay, you probably have heard one of their songs. If you've ever heard something on Top 40 radio that is void of melody (in fact it sounds like someone who has just taken a gunshot wound to the abdomen moaning their way toward death), then you've heard Coldplay.

Yeah, we were some of the youngest people there, too... unless there were kids brought by their parents.

One thing I was in awe of was the sheer number of 40-50 year old men feeling the need to do a lot of raucous "air piano." I mean, WTF is up with that? Craziness.

And yeah, other people have pointed out to me that I've heard that "Yellow" song. I think it was a Volkswagon ad or something.
