Another early morning in Dot. Someday when we "Spring Ahead," maybe I'll be able to sleep past 6am. That would be nice. Still, it's nice to be woken by sunshine. Sunshine and cats.

Jen and I spent a good portion of yesterday trying to find a draining kit for a waterbed. Talk about frustrating! The store people at all of the stores looked at us like we were crazy. Today I'll probably try calling a furniture store that actually sells waterbeds and see if they have info. I found part of a draining kit at Dad's house but the most important part (the pump part that sucks the water out) was missing. We bought a hand pump at one point out of desperation and after nearly an hour of pumping, we'd probably sucked out a gallon of water TOPS. So that's out. So frustrating. Effing waterbed, I hate you.

We spent another Sunday bagging and boxing all of the random crap that the auction people left behind at Dad's house. It's simply amazing how much stuff is in there, seriously. How one person could amass so much... stuff... it kills me. We probably have 40 garbage bags stacked in the dining room right now, and tons of boxes of housewares in the other room to donate. At least all of the food has gone to the food pantry, the kitchen appliances have been scrubbed out, and all of the cabinets are empty. It's funny how even when everything is gone that you can /see/, there's still all that other stuff hiding in things like cabinets and drawers. Packrats are the devil.

I'm looking forward to the day when Jen and I can spend a Sunday together without cleaning out a house... and not because of some lame excuse like illness or a blizzard.

Have a great Monday, kids.

Morning chica!

Back in the dark ages when I used to have a waterbed, we got it mostly drained simply by putting a hose in and making sure the other end was *lower* then the one in the bed. Dunno how or why it worked, but it did ... maybe give that a try and then you'll only have to hand pump the bit that's left?

My $0.02 this morning since I have had but half a cup of coffee this far ehhe :D

Unfortunately the window sill is higher than the waterbed. We attached the hose, let the hose hang down onto the floor an dthen put the oteghr end out the window and even *laying* on the waterbed would not force it into the hose. THe hand pump was actually a siphon - which direct you to pump 3 -4 times and allow the rest to flow through. That didn't work either.

The hose thing just plain didn't work yesterday. It's a soft-sided waterbed (I think that's what it's called - it's a big water bladded inside a cut-out mattress) and the spout is up on top, over the water line. Since it's so heavy, we can't fold it on itself or anything to pop the water up over the spout.

We tried to get a siphon going but since the hose had to go up and over the window (or the sink, or the toilet, or the tub), it wouldn't get started.

Bummer. Thanks for the thought, though!

I imagine my Sump pump could be made to suck all the water out of your water bed, but yeah, the "Garden Hose out the Window" method should work too.

Garden hose out the window did so not work. I bought a siphon hand pump to try to get it started but that wouldn't work either.

Sump pump could work. We were hoping to get the bed drained this coming weekend, but if we can't, we can certainly try the sump pump.

Something about me makes you want to be dirty, I guess. Is that good or bad? I think it's kind of hot.

I can't believe I say things like hand pumping and sucking and all of that. It's all innocent, I swear!
