On insomnia, midterms, and birthdays
Oct. 18th, 2001 12:32 pmI've neglected you, loyal readers. This will be long. Feel free to skim for your name or something.
I got very little sleep on Tuesday night, or should I say Wednesday morning. I was on the phone with Mark for quite a while. I had gotten into it earlier in the evening with A. and was really just trying to forget about it (I try not to drag him into A. things, I try to keep A. things to myself for the most part) - but it came up and I started gushing and before I knew it, the conversation had gotten very tense. So for about an hour it was really icky, but then for the next hour it was very nice. But then I lied awake thinking of the nice parts and didn't sleep, and 6:45am came far too early. So I was exhausted and cranky.
I got into an argument with my boss, but I think it ended up okay. One of my clients didn't show, but that was okay. I got lots of voicemail messages: Dad and Mom and Lia and Stefan and Chrissy and Christina and Bink and Baga. I got home and was planning to nap and stuff, but it didn't turn out that way. I was really hungry when I got home, but was bummed because it was my birthday and I didn't have anyone to go out and eat with or have cake with or whatever (
binkiegirl and
dietbubba and I are doing that tomorrow, she's making me a cake and ice cream because she rocks), so I didn't eat. I just couldn't get myself to eat mac 'n yak or butternut squash or whatever. I dunno. Jodie called somewhere in there, and then Jost called after that. Around 7:30 I took my midterm notes into my room and began reading them...
...and was awakened by my phone at 8:15, which means I had fallen asleep on my first page of notes! It was R'nice, and he just completely and totally rocks! He took his guitar into work so he could call me and sing to me. He sang 'Happy Birthday' and then that 'I'd like to make it with you' song by Bread (I think), and then at my request I made him sing 'Hava Nagela' (however you spell it). He then started singing my notes to 'Hava Nagela' (The Indian Child Welfare Act of 1978 - let them adopt!). It was too funny, and I made him say 'Happy Birthday' to me in Klingon and we talked and it was fun. By the time we got off the phone, it was time to call Princess, so I did. Yay! I also through the course of the night talked to the Ninja a little bit, and then Kieron to wish her a happy birthday and we ended up talking until a little before 1am. I was going to study but I was soooo exhausted.
I was apparently overtired and have caught Jodie's insomnia, because I absolutely couldn't sleep. My heart was pounding and I was tossing and turning and tossing and turning and hot then cold then hot, etc. I fell asleep around 4:30, woke up at 5:15 to go to the bathroom, and then my cell phone alarm went off at 6:45 because I forgot to shut it off the night before. Feh. So I am officially a zombie. At 7:45 when the alarm went off for real (the radio, not the phone), I vomited several times and opted to read my notes instead of showering.
The exam this morning went well, I think. It could have been a dream, but I'm pretty confident. I was, however, completely zonked enough to call Peggy 'Brenda' (her friend's name) and didn't notice Heather's haircut even though it was quite dramatic and everyone was commenting on it. We had fun teasing each other about it, though. Christa was her usual salty self, and I shocked her by throwing her gum out for her. (Christa: 'You want me to... put it in your hand?' Me: 'Yeah, if you want to get rid of it.') I was going to go into work and ask Brett if I could just go home, but I was somewhat awake after the exam and the walk over so I decided to stay as long as I didn't have to hang up posters.
Wow. This isn't making any sense. Things I learned:
1 - That anything sung to 'Hava Nagela' is funny
2 - That R'nice is very cool for singing to me
3 - That spontaneous is funny, and assertive is good
4 - That I /really/ missed having Kieron around
5 - That I am a fecking genius still and haven't lost my gift for auditory memory
6 - That I think I used all of Sprint PCS's minutes in one day
7 - That my Dad is capable of remembering my birthday if I remind him a few days before
8 - That it's hard to talk over the subway
9 - That when I don't sleep, I throw up
10 - That 26 isn't old
ObJ: I'm glad you like the new job.
ObChaz: Thanks for everything. You rock.
ObK: Hi! :)
ObKFG: I can't believe you're counting.
ObM: Talk to you soon.
ObJig: You can wear my coat.

towareds the end of Joe VS. The Volcano, the natives of Waponi-Woo sung some gibberish to the Hava Nageela melody. An then later on something to the tune of The Ants Go Marching In.
When i was in choir, we were made to sing Have Nageela:
Hava Nageela Hava Nageela
Hava Nageela vay mismacha
Hava Nageela Hava Nageela
Hava Nageela vay mismacha
Hava na ranina
Hava na ranina
Hava na ranina vay mismacha
Hava na ranina
