I seem physically unable to get a good night's sleep these days. The last several nights this week, I've woken up at least 3 times during the night - somewhere around 3am, somewhere around 5am, and then for good when the sun comes up around 6am. This is unacceptable! I always was such a good, solid sleeper!

There is absolutely no reason why I keep waking up in the middle of the night, unless Jen is doing something that neither of us are aware of, like talking out loud or bumping into me really hard or something. But really, I don't think so.

All I know is that I need to get some frickin' sleep, people! Yawn...

Have you shifted anything in your day-to-day routine, like, did you used to walk a little more but now you drive, or something? The reason I'm asking is, I had a similar problem, only I would wake up and remain awake, or be unable to fall asleep. I did some "research" on the internets and read a bunch of stuff that says that exercising in the morning (especially as opposed to the evening) really helps--exercise can be a walk, or something more strenuous. I also read some kooky hippie stuff about "the first thing you should do in the morning is go outside and turn your face toward the sun for fifteen minutes." Not wanting to do the latter and freeze my ass off, I compromised by (a) moving my workouts to the morning rather than after work and (b) opening my drapes first thing after I wake up.

You know, I gave this comment a lot of thought and I can't think of anything that is diffierent this week from weeks past, except that I might have been a little busier at work but nothing too major. Maybe I'm coming down with something? There is always something going around at work - an occupational hazard of working with little kids.

Yeah, I don't think I could do that sun thing, either. Not in the winter!! Although the sun does pour into our bedroom in the morning, which makes for easy waking. I just can't stay asleep at night.

Won't you run come see St. Judy's Comet roll across the skies and leave a spray of diamonds in its wake...

Gosh, I love that song.

"Cause if I can't sing my boy to sleep, then it makes your famous Daddy look so dumb."

Again, I wonder if it's hormones. Only because I always have those restless nights right before I get my period, and despite being exhausted and wanting to sleep, I cannot sleep for anything.

Maybe all this baby preparation has thrown off your body's need for that much sleep.

Who knows... I'm no doctor. :)

It /could/ be, I suppose... but I haven't had any sort of significant hormone change that I know of. My chart is just as erratic as ever with no sign of hormonal shift in sight. I guess it could be coming, but there's no indication. Seems things are just as broken as they used to be. :)

Heh, I could be preparing for all of those sleepless nights! I just hope I'm not coming down with something. That would suck, Dr. Leslie!
