I think it's possible to be homeschooled and still be social... but it's a tough balance and you really need a proactive homeschooler parent to pull it off. It's so easy to stay in the house and never leave. Trying to find social stimulation outside of schooling is a challenge and you really need to work hard to pull it off. But I think it's worth it, though, if that's what you want for your family.
Still, if I had someone homeschooling my kids and was teaching them only how to make Medieval shoes and furniture, I would boot them back to the middle ages!
