Surreal Life

Today was quite surreal but also quite lovely. It's quite bizarre to have some nurse all up in your hoo-hah while your amazing wife is trying to kiss you. It was pretty awesome, though. Jen was the total bomb diggity and was just so excited and happy and stuff. Really nice.

Of course I couldn't stop laughing as the nurse felt the need to narrate the procedure in great detail, not realizing that I am really 13 years old and can't handle things like, "Now I'm going to visualize your cervix." I tried so hard not to crack up!

It's also nice to lounge around the house in my pajamas all day when I was supposed to have a bunch of home visits. I'm supposed to do my group notes from yesterday but instead I'm goofing on the internet watching In America (which is really quite good).

Smooch and I might have made a baby today! I just want to talk and talk and talk about it. It's the most exciting thing we have ever done in our whole entire lives.

Joel always stands behind me or right next to me because he can't bear to see what they are sticking in my hoo-hah (love that name). I guess a woman would be more comfortable watching her wife go through this then a hubby. :) I'm so excited for you and hope those little spermies make it to that egg!

I don't think Jen's so jazzed about the hoo-hah exams either, but at least she has more of an idea about them since she has to have annuals and all of that. She wasn't that interested in, like, going over to the nurse's side and see what was going on... which I think I would have.

I asked her if she wanted to ask if she could squeeze the syringe but she didn't want to ask. I thought that could have been cool (but they probably would have said no).

Go spermies go! They said that our little critters had good motility (about 60% after the thaw) and that most of them were swimming straight up... so hopefully the egg was there and no one got lost on the way!

On my third try and final try my girlfriend was on the nurses end and saw the whole procedure. That was even worse to have two people staring at your hoo hah up close and personal.

I asked Jen if she wanted to go over there and "visualize my cervix," too, but she declined. Aah well, she doesn't know what she's missing. I'm so nosey about medicine and biology that I would have been ALL OVER THAT if she was on the table!

One time I was seeing an RE a million years ago when I was in college to see if I had a prolactinoma, and I met her, shook her hand, and she promptly told me she had three students - did I mind? Four pairs of eyes up in my parts - sheer insanity. I think when I left I said, "I hope that was enjoyable for all of you." I should have said, "PARTY IN MY PANTS!"

Gah, I want to be one of the lucky ones, too. Of course, if we're not, that's okay because at least we got our "maiden voyage" under our belts. (Even though we weren't wearing belts.)
