I took 4 ibuprofen 45 minutes ago and I don't feel any effects. I took them 1.5 hours early because I couldn't do anything, not even lay down. All I could do was curl up in a fetal position and rock myself.

This can't be normal. My ear aches. My throat aches. My jaw aches. My teeth ache.

I suggest going back to the doctor and explaining that whatever he did for you before isn't working and he needs to get moving onto something else.

Strep can take several days for the antibiotics to really kick in. However they should be able to give you better painkillers. Often they'll break out the tylenol 3 for this, so you can be in a stupor like me!

Seriously, go back to the docs, they can make you more comfortable while the antibiotics work their magic. (My last bout it took 6 days for the strep to go away :( )

I was going to say that antibotics takes a while to kick in.

But with Zithromax I've often seen results by the third day with Caty. (Of course, she takes the oral suspension, not the pills or anything.) HOpefuly by today or tomorrow you'd feel better.)

Have you taken any cough drops meds for the sore throat? Any lozenges?

I'm sure you know, but I always remind peeps of this: Anti-botics aren't pain meds. You can (and should) take something in addtion for the pain. So see about getting some lozenges or something like that or some cough syrup that'll ease the pain in the throat.
