Sweaty!

Another hot one today, though thankfully I didn't repeat yesterday's home visit phenomenon. I go to this one house that is /always/ hot - they don't open windows (I don't think they have screens), they don't have any fans or anything, and I think they cook a lot in the oven. Anyway, it is usually pretty hot there and I was concerned about my Monday visit but I figured it would be tolerable because it was early in the morning. It wasn't all that hot outside (maybe 80 or so?).

Within five minutes of being in the house, I was sweating. And I do mean full-on /sweating/, not just a little armpit action but total body sweating, where you can feel sweat running down your back and in your boobs and in the cracks of your knees and you have to keep wiping your face. And I wasn't doing /anything/, just filling out paperwork with the family. The papers were getting wet from my sweat and limp from the humidity. It had to be at least 100° in there.

I could not wait to get out of there and dry off. I told the family (two somewhat sickly grandparents and their 18-month old granddaughter) that it might not be a bad idea to spend a little time at the library or the grocery store or something, just to get a change of pace and a break from the sweating. And to seriously consider calling the landlord about the screens. But I'm not one who is usually concerned about all of the media hype about heat deaths and such (OH NO, HOT WEATHER), this was just bad. I've never been in a situation where I wasn't moving at all and I was sweating like I'd just been playing sports all afternoon.

Grossness.

Today was much nicer. Even though there was home visit sweat happening, it was much more manageable. No more running down the back! (Yuck.)

boob sweat sucks!

We had to go to the grocery store. WE even waited until after dark to go. Still the ice cream was almost melted by the time we got home.

New York today hit 103 (With humidity). I didn't leave the dorm (dining hall and gym are inside this one, lucky me).

But the past few days? Lots of running down the back. I've actually started putting baby powder on my back so I don't have to appear in class all sweaty...

Oooh, and then your back would smell all powdery fresh! :)

But ugh, I passed a sign at a bank and granted, it was probably baking in the sun an hour or so before but it still said 102°. That's just damned hot. I love heat, I'm a fan... just not a fan of the boob sweat.

I don't even have much boob so to get boob sweat, it takes A LOT!

Melted ice cream before you can even eat it? TRAVESTY!

I should get one and try it if we get another crazy heat wave!

So, NYC plans: We're coming into the city in the afternoon and it's a 4pm game. We're staying overnight at the Hilton New York in Midtown (Times Square-ish). Where would you like to meet for breakfast/brunch and what time? We will do whatever your little heart desires. :)

What day/date is this again? There's a hotel that's famous for it's restaurant - the Hotel Edison. I forget exactly where it is, but I know it's in Times Square. (Note they don't take credit cards) It's basically a diner, they call it the "polish tea room".

If that's no good, I'm open to somewhere else. Something like 12:30 or 1pm is good for me.

This is Sunday, the 30th. As in this coming Sunday.

Also of note: we have a 2:30 bus to come back. So 12:30 would probably work better, esp. as we have to check out by noon. :)

But the Hotel Edison can work. I will look it up and make sure we know where it is. And thanks for the tip about credit cards!
