The surprise going-away/birthday party for my coworker and officemate, Nicole, was a huge success. Nearly 20 people came to celebrate, AND she was surprised by the party, AND she was later surprised by the birthday cake I dropped off at the place. She was very smiley and very happy and I am so SO glad because she totally deserved it. She has been an awesome coworker and officemate, she has always done 110% for our agency and our families, and I am still so cheesed that my agency didn't throw her a party. I know that they don't do goodbye parties for everyone anymore because there is so much turnover, but I think that when you've been somewhere for almost three years you deserve SOMETHING.

Today Nicole bought a cake from Coldstone Creamery as a "thank you" to all of her great coworkers. It was completely delicious. She is awesome.

It isn't the greatest job in the world for me, but let me tell you, I work with an amazing group of people. There are just a whole bunch of people who are just clued in and just get it. It rarely happens and it really makes it worthwhile. I will be sad when I leave, for sure. Today, in a fit of Coworker Appreciation, I decided to tell Coworker Anne how awesome I think she is, as a clinician and as a coworker. And she is - she is really over the top with how awesome she is at work. I told her supervisor first how great I think she is and then I decided she should know, too. Apparently she'd had a bad day and she was so happy that she gave me a hug. So, yay. That was nice.

I didn't have many appointments today so I managed to clear a bunch of busywork off my desk. This frees me up to leave early on Friday without that anxious feeling that I'm leaving a bunch of crap sitting around. My desk was looking pretty crazy. It still does, but there is less stuff to do. Heh. There is never a shortage of work at my job.

I set myself up for two early mornings, and that sucks. I have to be in by 8:15 tomorrow because I'm supposed to be meeting a potential intern tomorrow morning at 8:30. And I scheduled an assessment at 8:30 on Friday. Dumb dumb dumb. I need to remember that I don't like to get to work early. I like to sit around and waste time on the internet before work.

My dinner was not terribly satisfying tonight. I didn't know what I wanted, so I made macaroni and cheese with peas mixed in. But I thought maybe I needed some protein so I also cooked up a chicken breast and stuck that in there. I ate way more mac and cheese than I should have. And then some fresh pineapple. YUM. I want to keep eating, though. I want CAKE. (I always want cake.) Maybe I should bake cookies. But it is too late in the evening to eat cookies, especially if [livejournal.com profile] bluekniggit isn't here to enjoy them with me!

They just all deserve it, you know? We all work really hard.

I made sponge toffee at 3 am the other day, but well, I'd been watching the 2 am showing of Good Eats, and so I am blameless. Alton Brown does that to me.

Yes, but you do not have to go to bed early and wake up early. If I made cookies at 10, I would be eating them at 10:30 and I try to go to bed by 11:15. So, that would be bad.

However, whatever sponge toffee is, it sounds delicious.
