Okay, so I at first thought it was an Old Navy fluke of vanity sizing, but Jen and I went "school shopping" last weekend so she could get some new fall shirts for work. We hit up the mall and I went into Filene's Basement to look for some deals.

I ended up getting a skirt (another skirt, what is UP with that?) and a pair of dress pants. I guess I really AM a size 12 these days.

That's just WEIRD. When I started taking Metformin in February '05, I wore men's 36s, and usually a women's 16 (sometimes an 18 depending on cut). No exercise, no dieting, SOME better food choices. It's a crazy drug.

I think I've finally stopped losing weight, though, which is good. I started getting concerned when I hit the 30lb mark. My weight at my last IUI was 152.

INSANITY

I never really lost weight from the metformin I don't think. that's great you went down to a size 12. I do think Old Navy sizes larger too. I always seem to fit a size smaller there.

I can't really say for sure because for a while most of my pants were guys' pants and they use measurements, not vanity. I didn't really own too many pairs of women's pants until recently... and most of them were a billion years old because I keep the same clothes forever. I hate shopping.

This is such cool info about the Metformin. And your tag of "the incredible shrinking woman" was kind of nostalgic for me because back before I had such trouble with my feet and I was going to yoga three times a week, my yoga instructor called me her "ISW". I'm still waiting on Metformin to work it's magic on me, and it has...in some ways, like my cholesterol, but not in poundage yet. I'm on 1000mg/day, how about you?

I took 1000mg/day for a year (Feb. 05 to Feb. 06) and I lost some weight... I'd say 15-20? For part of that time I was also going to the gym (Feb. 05 to May 05). At that time, I went from having zero cycles/year to having 4.

When I started going to the fertility specialist, he doubled the dose to 2000mg/day and I dropped more weight. I think it has levelled off now but we'll see. He said that minimum therapeutic dose for PCOS with Metformin is 1500mg, and 2000mg works better. Since starting that, I get a period on my own (without any drugs) every 35 days or so with natural ovulation around day 20-21. So in that case the higher dose has really worked the way it was supposed to (cycles) as well as the way I wanted it to (weight).

Hang in there!

I have to go school shopping next week. I'm going to be going on a trip to meet the VP of our company and I want to look nice. By the way, I think you live near a friend of mine, she shops at Filene's basement too. her LJ is [livejournal.com profile] lakshmi_amman she does SCA stuff with me but also dances with boston babydolls a burlesque troupe. Next time they are dancing I'll let you know!

Filene's Basement is definitely a New England thing. I don't know how long it will last since Filene's was bought out by Macy's. But we'll see.

Have fun shopping!

That's so cool about your weight loss. I only lost about 20 pounds on Met, and I was dieting. But I was not insulin resistant.

I am insulin resistant big time. I never knew I had high insulin, but I always had low blood sugar. It's amazing how long it's been since I've felt like I was going to pass out.

I've lost 30lbs or so. I think I'm maxing out, though. Which is okay.

You are WAY taller than me, though!

p.s. Summer just wasn't summer without our annual visit from you, Scott and the kids.
