Tonight I was treated to a home-cooked dinner courtesy of eightJenny and buddhafly4224Lisa. Afterwards we played a board game and I ate so much candy that I had to /immediately/ brush, floss, and gargle upon my arrival home.

Thanks, girls! It was fun hanging out and you'll have to come out here sometime soon so we can repay the favor. :) We can play more board games and eat more food. (Less candy.)

It's funny, I always think we have so far to go to be grownups because we don't own a house, but then I go into other people's homes and I realize we /are/ kind of grown-up. I mean, we have this ridiculously prissy, spacious apartment with crazy things like a guest room. And a house full of furniture, even if some of it is old and all put together and not entirely grown up. And we don't have any roommates. We're kind of an entirely self-sufficient unit and I like it a lot.

(Of course, I've been a self-sufficient unit for a long time now.)

The only odd part was when I realized that dear Jenny is 10 years younger than me, which doesn't seem like a big deal when we're hanging out. Until I remember that Matt, the boy I babysat all through college in my dorm room, is 10 years younger than me. I have pictures of him posing in my dorm room in a goofy costume making a ridiculous "martial arts" pose. He was 9 years old. I was beginning my junior year of college.

JENNY AND MATT ARE PEERS! *gasp*

I don't wanna grow up. I'm a run-down-apartment-with-a-roommate-and-used-furniture kid.

I think it's harder to juggle a roommate when you're in a marriage/partnership. Too many extraneous variables, you know? Otherwise, if I was a single person, I think I would prefer at least one roommate. (Although I would be paranoid that s/he wouldn't pay the bills on time.)

I don't mind used/old/shoddy furniture. I don't really own too much of value as it is. Everything is used or borrowed or taken from the side of the road pretty much, and that suits me just fine. But I /would/ like room for a kid or two, and some land for a garden, so I could be MORE self-sufficient. :)

That's what I like about my apartment too. It's still just an apartment, but it's also spacious, painted, furnished, and thoughtfully decorated. That's what makes me feel like I'm coming home to my grown up home, I think. Not to mention the doting girlfriend with a whole mouthload of kisses waiting at the door :)

Ooh, doting girlfriend with kisses would be nice! I get the kisses, but I could use more doting. ;)
