On the other hand, I have gone down to about 34 LJ comments from 130. Go go go procrastination!!

I guess I should go pack some more.

Jen has been diligently calling moving companies for estimates. Something tells me she's not looking to do much hauling!

DUDE! Go on citimove.com. Then movers get to bid on you and you can get out of it super cheap. The guys that moved me were out of Boston and they totally rocked. They kept lowering their bid until I accepted.

Yeah, mine started out sucktastic with bids of like $2600. After a while they'd gotten down to $1200 and I was all over that. I used Keith's Moving. They were very nice and careful and cheapcheap!

I got this one $500 bid from a company I had never heard of that had no ratings and no listing with the Better Business Bureau. That makes me kind of nervous and since the other non-internet folks are charging ~$600, I guess it's worth it to go with someone that makes me feel more legit.

I am still waiting for more bids, though!

While you are waiting for more bids you could always call other moving places and say "So and So is offering a price of $600, can you do any better?" That might get you places, too.

Almost all of the companies we've called/written to/etc. have had prices within dollars of each other. Seriously. We've gotten 4 estimates that are about $20 apart.
