Hello, friends, and Merry Christmas for those who celebrate.

Jen and I took in a good deal of loot this year, even for our lack of holiday spirit and incessant drama. Our biggest gift is of course Frankenfetus, whose heart was going at a good clip this morning. Jen got me a lot of little toys to get through the tedious workday as an office temp, including a mini Bozo-punching-bag and a bunch of little play-dohs. And a Playmobil pirate ship! And the cats got me lots of Todd Parr books! My brother and SIL came through with a new Neil Gaiman short story collection that I hadn't even heard of (I am so behind) and a surprise DVD of season one of ALF. Ha ha ha, I bet I will learn how DUMB that show is even though I loved it as a kid. Man, I loved me some ALF.

We got some gift cards (Macy's, Home Depot, Chili's) and some money which I'm sure we will use. And a lot of other stuff. I didn't get a chance to get a ton of stuff for Jen but she did like the big gifts I scored - a new winter coat and this cool necklace from one of the local art galleries. I wasn't sure if she would like it but she says she does, so I will take that!

Yesterday we all took the grandparents to Foxwoods. It was a pretty good time and fun to be with everyone. (And I won $65 on a nickel slot!) But I'd forgotten how smoky it is there and I spent a lot of time worrying about the baby. That seems to be what I do best.

My grandmother made my favorite snack (peanut butter balls) and gave me an entire tupperware FULL of them. Oh my god, they are so freaking good it is disgusting. I had been asking her to make them for almost the last 20 years and she made them for me this year because I am pregnant. Awwwh! Had I known, I would have gotten knocked up YEARS ago!

Tomorrow is my quick orientation for my new job, where I go fill out tax forms and stuff. I hope they have snacks. And water. And I hope I remember to find my SS card.

~//~

I hope all of you had a wonderful and relaxing day either doing the family/friends thing, or doing the chinese food/movie thing, or whatever. I love you!

Please share - peanut butter balls? Besides the obvious, what's in em?

Merry Holidays!

Basically, it's peanut butter (creamy) and rice krispies mixed together and rolled into balls, then dipped in chocolate. So simply delicious.

Yes, but do you really want visitors aka stress?

Also, are you far from Boston now? (aka, can I take a Chinatown bus?)

And, when would be a good time?

Visitors aren't stress, they're fun!

We are far from Boston - two hours west of Boston, to be exact. We're much closer to Springfield, which is not a Chinatown-bus-accessible location but does do Greyhound and Amtrak. It's actually much closer to NY than Boston is.

As for a good time, well... most weekends are open except for the last weekend in January, when we have a wedding. It's "black tie" so I don't know if you'd want to tag along unless you have an evening gown lying around. ;)

Okay, well, I can either try to do it really soon, like before I need to be back (January 12th), or maybe even the weekend after that- the 19th or 20th. Or we can wait til Feb...? Just the earlier in the semester, the less busy I'll be.

I don't THINK we have anything going on the weekend of the 19th... but would that be too stressful since it was your first weekend back? Next weekend we're around but we're having someone put in cold air returns into our furnace so that's probably not a lot of fun since we'll be tied to the house while the workers are there.

You tell me what works for you, lovey. You're the one that has schoolwork and plans and stuff. :)

I don't know! I'm supposed to run a peer ed info session and am waiting on the date. (I think it might be that Friday) I've already emailed the guy and am waiting to hear back. I do think the best time for me to go is early on in the semester, before things get crazy.

You've got a deal. We can eat some crap food and watch some serious ALF. Also, Jen got seasons 1 and 2 of Family Guy. We've never seen it, but it's supposed to be hysterical.

I am a big fan of Little Miss Sunshine and Jen didn't get to see it, so that could be good. :) I don't know about Friday, though... it depends when my brother and SIL are coming into town. But we will definitely set a TEE VEE DATE soon!

As for Clerks 2, this is probably blasphemy but I didn't really like the first one.

Well, yeah. I mean, I was little too. I had my little ALF doll and looked forward to new episodes. It's hardly QUALITY television, but that's okay. :)

I loved ALF too. I'm a little afraid of how bad it really was though, through the eyes of an adult!

I know - that's what I'm afraid of! I am so scared that I will realize that it is AWFUL.

ALF was definitely that show that was not afraid to be ridiculous. I guess that's why kids liked it so much, even though it wasn't a "kids" show.

We had asparagus at Christmas dinner and I wish you'd been around to sing that for us. I think it would have enhanced our dinner experience. And my grandparents could have asked you lots of rude questions about your tattoos. :)
