Hee hee hee. Well, Frankie *is* a little young to be making such big decisions already. Keep the options open for awhile. That's probably a good deal of what's wrong with the human race. We don't keep our options open.
We were excited to get home last night and check, and then sad that it did not turn out as you wanted, but this last post made me really happy! And I am glad you can see the humor in it.
I really wanted to have a more personal touch to add to our baby without always saying "the baby." It's hard to think of the baby as a whole person without having a name or anything.
I'd been thinking that it was odd that someone like you would be feeling so distraught about not being able to find out the baby's gender. I mean, I suppose I can understand of the parental desire to know, to have the mystery revealed. But it's not that you'll love them any less for being one or the other. Or for being different than the stereotypes when they grow up. Just take this as Frankie's way of saying "does it really matter that much, mom...I thought you knew better." And yes, I was one of those voting for ambiguous, mostly because, well, ambiguity is spiffy. ;)
I don't care what my baby's gender will be. But I /did/ want to know my baby's sex. I did. I wanted to know the genitals. Why? Not so I could go all societal on the baby but so I could start relating to the baby as a person with a name and some pronouns. Now for another month we're stuck with "it" or "they," and I don't want to call my baby an it and it annoys me to use they because it's plural and we did have plural babies until one died.
So yeah, it's not important to me in a desire sense (because I don't have a preference or whatever) but in an interpersonal sense.
I think your baby is a prankster. s/he knew you wanted to find out.. It was his/her way of saying Ha ha. Now you cant find out. I mean the baby has given ya some hard times.. why not some more...
Good luck. I voted ambiguous, because I figured it wouldnt show itself. s/he is shy...
