Last night, Eryn and Amy came over to watch the Superbowl (along with Jen's friend Joanna) and they brought a squash pie with them. It is a little known fact that my absolute favorite post-holiday breakfast is some delicious pumpkin pie, and this squash pie is a very close second. Oh my gosh, it is so amazingly good. I actually want to go back and eat more, but I will probably be a good person and have a bowl of cereal instead. Mmmmm, pie.

I made chili yesterday for the game and I usually put about half a bottle of beer in my chili but we don't exactly have beer around the house these days. I was a little nervous about whether or not the chili would still be good, and it was - but it didn't taste as yummy without the beer. Still, I am excited to have some nummy chili leftovers so I can fill my tummy with beans!

Speaking of food, at my midwife appointment on Friday, I learned that I had gained exactly ONE pound since my 14w appointment. I get all of those online "Your Pregnancy This Week" type announcements and one of them said something like "Most people have gained 8-14 pounds by now," and all I could do was laugh. But at them or me, I'm not exactly sure.

I put beer in my chili too. YUM. I think it still tastes good without it, just a little different.

Yeah, and it has a totally different smell. This chili smelled so much like tomato sauce (instead of mmm beer). I'm totally jonesing for tomato sauce these days though, so it was win-win.

I make a delicious squash pudding! It is like a squash pie without the crust and extra fat.

But fat is what I love best! Although squash pudding sounds delicious, and if I know you at all, I'm sure it contains lots of cream, sugar, and butter.

I need to live somewhere where my friends get excited about the superbowl, or at least excited enough to have a "gathering" around it.

My house? We had chips, salsa, hummus, and homemade pizza. Which wasn't bad. But it was just us. And while one of us LOVES football, the other...well, uhm, if I have to answer "tell me again WHY they're just running ten yards," I may scream. Seriously though, props to my wife for lasting till the 3rd quarter, before deserting me for bed.

Hey. Did you know that we're maybe gonna get to meet in like, 3 weeks? I think? Not 100% though. But it's looking good. You know, barring blizzard, etc.

1. Don't you dare say the B word (blizzard). Unless you are talking about Dairy Queen.

2. I enjoy the Superbowl, though I don't watch anything in the football season and don't really care about who wins what or what teams do what, or who gets traded. I save that love for baseball. But I like the Superbowl, and 9 years of watching SBs has gotten me at least moderately proficient at understanding /some/ penalties and the general rules of the game. However, I tend to more enjoy the crazy tackles, the touchdown dances, and of course the commercials. (This year's sucked.) Having an entire game in the pouring rain was especially enjoyable this year - so much slipping and sliding!

3. You are always welcome to come over for some Superbowl action. Last year we went to some friends' and had a seven (or so) course meal made entirely with crescent rolls. Seven courses of crescent rolls from a pop-can. It's an event!

4. You're on the calendar, you know. Because I am way anal.

In your town there is/was an ice cream place called the "tasty top" right on rt. 10. There is/was a driving range behind it. This was one of my favorite places, ever, as I would hit balls with a friend, and then get ice creams. Way better than DQ. Now, it's going bye bye because you NEED a new Stop N Shop, right there. Oh well.

Calendars are good. I have one too. Actually, I just started using it last week. It's going ok. Especially when I remember to put things on it.

I love crescent rolls. Though I think they have the "t-f's" in them. However, i mean, if you're gonna do it, go for it. I like them cut in half, rolled around hot dog pieces, and baked. mmmm.

Yes, I pass the Tasty Top several times a day. I am sad that it won't be open because I wanted to eat a lot of tasty treats! Argh!

Yeah, we avoid all of the partially hydrogenated oil stuff but we weren't as vigilant last year at this time. Mmm, crescent rolls.
